Half expecting a light toned suited Sicilian to walk out of one of the adjoining buildings [like in the Godfather films] this little garden is an oasis in the far end of this town. No, it's not the best garden in the world, but boy is it memorable with the dry desolate surrounding hills and valleys, and this green Italianette garden with stone paths and shading trees in this gorgeous town.

These are lovely botanical gardens, great selection of plants, succulents and palms as well as many native Sicilian plants. A good option to fill 30-45mins of pleasant strolling, and nice that it is free of charge so you don’t feel like you need to stay a long time

Our visit to Il Biviere was one of the highlights of our trip to Sicily. We chose to take tours of both the gardens and the biodynamic citrus farm. After our tours, we had brunch on the house terrace. Our gracious hosts and guides were Virginia and Giangiacomo Borghese, daughter-in-law and son of the founders. Their explanations about the farm and the descriptions of the trees, shrubs and flowers in the garden were very enlightening. Most of the ingredients for the delicious brunch dishes were grown locally or on the farm. A ricotta mold with honey from the Biviere apiary was one of the highlights of the meal. I strongly recommend a visit to Il Biviere.

The beautiful city of Catania, nearest Mount Etna, has a lot of attractions. Here we are in the Catanese Parka, the Villa Bellini.
