Experience an enchanting evening of Irish folklore, storytelling and music while enjoying a candlelit dinner in O'Shea's of Talbot Street, traditional Irish pub. Sit back, relax and let our renowned storytellers take you into a world of the imagination with wonderful insights and magical tales of Irish life in times past.
The Food, Folklore, and Fairies evening at O'Shea pub in Dublin is a fantastic night out. Everything went well, the food was great and the evening ran to time with such precision. The storytelling was delivered well by Johnny Daly who is an amazing storyteller who sticks to the facts and you leave feeling you know a bit more about Ireland, it's history, people and it's ways. The musicians who entertain you while you are eating your main course were excellent. This is a lovely way for those people who have Irish connections to get to know their heritage a bit more and for those who don't know much about Ireland to learn in a entertaining way. You are all sat together at long tables and you get to know the people around you which is so lovely in a world where people don't stop to chat that much anymore. If you are in Dublin and looking for a night out that is good value for money and entertaining (as well as educational) then this is the one for you.

An evening of folklore, fine food, Irish dance & music. The ticket covers a 3 course dinner, show & an unforgettable experience. Ceili(pronounced Kay’lee)is a Gaelic word for an Irish social gathering of friends where stories are told, songs are sung with a dance or two. Celtic Ceili Feasta is a truly authentic Irish show that takes place at the historic Celt Bar in Dublin, known for the craic.

We take our favorite myths, and we don’t shy away from the sex and violence that were always present in the Irish storytelling tradition. We breathe fresh air into ancient myths, with a live original musical score composed by a team of talented musicians with a flare for plucking the heartstrings and setting the tone to fit the tale. We keep the depth, the wisdom, and the richness, and leaven it with humour, passion and playfulness to enchant audiences of any age. Live music is the heartbeat of all our performances, driving the rhythm of the storytelling, weaving through the tale and sweeping the listener away.
We have a large mix of nationalities in our company and wanted to organise something unique for the first sports and social event of the year. The team at Parnell Heritage we incredibly helpful with organising food and drink options while Candlelit Tales were completely enthralling. The stories were easy to follow for all in attendance and really gave a magical insight into Irish culture and the characters of Irish Myth that shaped a nation. Everyone that went spoke highly of the event and I look forward to losing myself in future Candlelit Tales events.

Three English ladies visiting from the UK and our lovely Irish friend from Dublin went to the Belvedere for an Irish night, unsure what to expect. We all loved the Irish meal, and found the quality of the entertainment to be outstanding - Irish music and dancing by excellent performers from Riverdance. Our Irish friend, who had really come along more to be polite and keep us company than expecting to enjoy the evening was equally complimentary and said it was the best Irish night she'd ever been to in Dublin. Highly recommended!

The tour company I traveled with scheduled our last dinner here. Being in the oldest pub in Ireland was awe-inspiring. Getting to hear such well researched stories about a brief history of the potato, the importance of fairies in the past and present, and the Irish heritage in North America and Australia was a treat! The stories were told in three phases with breaks for food and a performance of some traditional pub music. A three course limited menu was available. I loved the genius beef stew! Our group was on the third floor with bathrooms conveniently on the same floor. We were separated from the rest of the pub which was doing a great local business. I would have liked to hear a bit about the history of the pub itself, but I might have been able to get this information by spending time in the bar itself. Our group arrived in time for the event and left shortly after, so there wasn't much time to explore outside of the story telling. Overall a wonderfully entertaining evening. I would recommend making this part of your Dublin visit if you are interested in learning about the history and culture of Ireland.

We stayed here for 5 nights from 31st Jan to 5th Feb 2020 and loved everything. I asked for a quiet room on booking and wasn't disappointed. Even with people celebrating the Six Nations rugby in the bar we couldn't hear anything. There is entertainment in the bar every night if you want to join in and the Celtic Night was fab. There is a good choice of food at breakfast and Coleen is a fountain of all knowledge when is comes to the area. She is also so friendly and is a lovely start to the day. The hotel is perfect for sightseeing as well as handy for buses and trams. There is a lovely chocolate shop about 5 doors down called Sweetest Thing that does amazing deserts and The Hairy Lemon is a good place for a meal and drink. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Johnnie Fox’s world famous ‘Hooley’ Show is the longest running all year round Irish dancing show in Ireland. Guests can avail of a special four course menu with a full night of entertainment, at the famous ‘Hooley Night’. This allows customers to savor the highlights of Johnnie Fox’s culinary offerings before enjoying a night of top-class performances from acts playing folk, ballads, and traditional music followed by the wonderful Johnnie Fox’s Irish dancing show. This famous dance show is renowned to be one of the best cultural shows in the country. There is no doubt that you will enjoy the food, craic, and entertainment at Johnnie Fox’s, however it will probably be its sheer authenticity and traditional ‘Olde World’ charm that will cast an indelible spell on you. This pub is inimitable to the pretender - often copied never equalled.
Went to johnnie foxes last night. Called last thing to book a table, then called to say we would be late. Hear this, they read out the whole menudo we could pick so it would’ve ready for us when we arrived as the Kitchen was closing. In the time of the Clifden debacle we were ushered in after being given face masks, temperature read, hand sanitizer on every table, social distancing staff with masks. All staff wore the mask, not on their ears or up their nose but correctly. Main course melt in the Mouth lamb shanks with perfect gravy, warm carrots and mash. Oh God, it Was sublime. Friend had the chicken supreme, moist, veg done to perfection al dente, mash was just bang on. This isn’t Posh food this is Plain food done properly. No messing. Desert menu seemed limited but the toffee chocolate cake was to die For. No proper decaf which was a pity but A grand big pot of tea. What I especially liked was the Delph. No steel pots and white dishes. The Delphi was earthenware glazed. This complimented the Food perfectly. It just worked. Staff were lovely, unobtrusive and efficient. A lot of fancy Dublin restaurants could learn a thing or two from Johnnie Foxes pub. Loads to look at, loos a hoot and all in all great for a quick meal. So well done Johnnie Foxes. !!!
