The school, the oldest state recognized school of foreign languages in Florence, can be found in Palazzo Guadagni, a Renaissance palace dating from the 16th century which is located in the middle of the old town centre near the Ponte Vecchio. The historic school building, renovated in 1992, has eleven classrooms, a multimedia learning centre, a lecture room and a student lounge and is in a quaint Italian quarter. The school is in the centre of the oldest part of Florence, 300 m from the Pitti Palace, 500 m from the Ponte Vecchio and about 15 minutes' walk from the cathedral (il Duomo) and from the railway station. The building is the work of the architect Cronaca and was built between 1502 and 1508. In the 1860's, it was extensively improved by the architect Poggi with the addition of beautiful frescoes. The school was completely renovated, taking care to enhance the original features but also making use of the best of modern Italian design to produce a stunning mix of new and old.

The Florence Art Studio renews the tradition of working in a private working studio (bottega d'arte). We offer academic training customized to meet each student's goals and circumstances. This intensive training provides a disciplined study of the fundamentals of drawing and painting from life. The Florence Art Studio is an official affiliate of The British Institute of Florence.
What a great experience to spend a month at the FAS. Gary and his team were so giving with their knowledge and expertise. The tuition was intense and at times, it was a bit like drawing bootcamp but I wouldn't change that at all. I would not have thought that it was possible to improve my drawing and 'seeing' skills in such a short time. Such a beautiful, well organised and centrally located studio, I challenge anyone not to improve their artistic skill set. Will definately be back.

At MaMa one can learn with home cooks and chefs of incredible skill and even international acclaim, but who all have one thing in common: they interweave their professional skill, knowledge and culture with the art of daily practice and desire to nourish with love. The warm, welcoming atmosphere of the school recreates the feeling of an informal and inviting home and hearth. It is a place to discover (or rediscover) the meaning and pleasure of two of the most simple yet important daily activities: cooking and eating well. Mama's ingredients are mostly organic and sourced form local Tuscan farmers.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the Tuscan Meat class that we took with Chef Michel on Tuesday October 22! We’ve taken a number of cooking classes both in the US and abroad, and we both agree that this one was our all around favorite. The chef did a great job of facilitating the class of 6 so that everyone had a role and was also able to watch and learn from others as each course was prepared. We made four courses, including a meatball and squash purée appetizer, ribbon pasta with sausage bolognese, beef stew with porcini mushroom polenta, and a flourless chocolate cake with berry compote. The chef was also accommodating to allergies and had adjusted his menu in advance accordingly. This experience de was the highlight of our time in Florence and we would highly recommend it to others!

Microfficina is a workshop in the historical center of Florence, just a few steps far from the station “Santa Maria Novella”. But it’s not only a workshop, though. Microfficina is also a small creative studio and an art gallery where I exhibit my handmade and contemporary jewelry … A few square feet space where I can magically give such a wide space to my creativity!
