Located in the historic city center and a few steps from the medieval castle of Charles V, it has two floors: on the first floor are exhibited in chronological order (from prehistoric times up to Roman times) the findings concerning the ancient city of Kroton; while on the second floor are exposed, besides the findings concerning the "neighboring" cities (Krimisa and Kaulon mainly), also the askos stolen in Strongoli and finished at the Paul Getty Museum in Malibù in 1992 and returned to Crotone in 2007. Also in the second floor an entire room is dedicated to the "treasure of Hera", a series of votive artifacts including Diadema of Hera: a gold foil decorated on the outside with a set of leaves (maybe myrtle) and berries interlaced between them.
