Bari is famous for its Street food variety: from "Panzerotti"-fried turnover stuffed with tomato and mozzarella or other various combinations, to the "sgagliozze"- fried slices of polenta. You can't leave the city without tasting a "ruota of focaccia barese", literally a wheel of focaccia, as locals refer to their most famous pizza, softer than the Napolitan version because of the presence of potatoes inside the dough. You will taste all these appetizing snacks and much more, accompanied by some sip of local wine and bear, while the guide will drop you in the discovery of the city. If you do not have enough time to visit the city, but are curious to catch the best, this tour is what you were looking for!
Inclusions: Tastings of local street food
Exclusions: Gratuities
Very pleasant way to get to know Lecce! We came away with a good understanding of the city's history and very full bellies. Antonella was a great guide.

Giorgio did more than show my family around Puglia, he was our tour guide through our own history and roots! He worked with us for weeks before our visit to build an itinerary in which we toured Bari, Alberobello, Polignano a Mare, Lecce, Matera, and many other towns throughout the region. We learned to make authentic Pugliese orecchiette, drank local wine, ate raw fish fresh from the sea, and shipped back a lifetime supply of Pugliese olive oil (the finest in the world). But the crown jewel of our time in Puglia was a visit to our ancestral hometown of Grumo Appula. Giorgio made sure that that our first visit to my grandparents’ hometown was fulfilling, walk down a street named for one of my ancestors, and even helped us connect with our relatives there (who we had never met before). By the end of two separate visits to Puglia, I feel connected to this beautiful region in a way I never thought possible, and I regularly stay in touch with I said of my family I never knew existed. To say that my life has changed would be an understatement. Throughout both of our trips to Puglia, Giorgio has gone above and beyond to customize our tours and make them memorable. Whether you are of Pugliese descent trying to discover your roots, or are looking to explore an area of Italy that’s off the beaten path, you owe it to yourself to utilize the services of Giorgio and his team at Apulia Tours!
