With the Covid lockdown beginning to ease we visited the Rose Gardens which look superb at present with many of the varieties in full bloom. It was already a popular area in mid morning, but social distancing was being well maintained and visitors included couples, families and individuals. The planting and maintenance cannot be faulted and the many shades and strong perfumes are a delight. There are many seats around the site with full sun and shade options. Well worth a visit and highly recommended.

As you would expect on a sunny Saturday the seaside is a popular destination for people. Canoe Lake is just a short walk from the sea front and has a huge boating lake with large "Swans" for you to pedal about on. That's not all in the area. There is a huge children's play area, the model village, natural history museum and mini golf also in the area so you will find plenty to do if you need to burn up some energy for the journey home.

Was lovely to get away from it all and walk around Farlington marshes. The late October sunshine was shining and as walking round the reserve spotted the many type’s of wildlife and the visiting Brent Geese. It is a must for all bird & wildlife lovers or just for a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. So go visit and enjoy

Whilst we have lived in Portsmouth for a good few years, we had missed the Milton Common walk and it was a delight to discover some of the highlights. Starting by the Thatched House pub, there is a narrow walkway that brings you through to a wide, flat path that follows the shore of Milton Lake, past the University buildings and then to an even wider path with great views of the Harbour on the right and a series of Lakes on the left. In particular, the Swan Lake is full of various water birds. Continuing down the path finally brings you to a well prepared seating area, next to the People’s Memorial ( See images ). As the seasons change, the views will change and we will return regularly. Apart from your own car, the number 13 bus from the City Centre to Furze Lane will bring you close to the walk.
