Unlike the somewhat ersatzs experience at Malbork, this museum gives the visitor a profound impression of the importance of the river to the city in particular and Poland in general. It has sections on the history of river transport, a massive collection of river boats (which are worked on in the same building) and a free exhibit on the life of Copernicus. The staff are helpful and polite although they don't speak many languages, apparently. The exhibits are well described and everything is well lit. The experience of walking around the museum was relaxing and enjoyable- unlike the pressured and anxiety inducing visit that I had at Malbork. I hold this museum up as a model for others to follow as visiting museums is meant to be a pleasurable act and not a feat of endurance

We have looked for a place to see amber and traveled to Leba especially to visit this one as well as the dune. I don't usually like crowded places which Leba definitely is, but did not feel bad in the end. This museum is fantastic, you'll see what amber was before you found it here. Most explanatory desks are also in English. Then in the second room you'll find amber with creatures in it. You can compare amber found on the beach with abraded amber as well as amber from other parts of the world. There is also video running, but only in Polish. In the third room there are artefacts and articles made of amber. In the end you can buy amber in the adjacent store.
