City Books carries new & used, collectible & rare, and English & foreign language books for diverse audiences. We are a small, friendly shop with an emphasis on both old-world charm and modern customer service. Located on Pittsburgh’s Northside, City Books is conveniently within walking distance of the region’s premier attractions, including Heinz Field, the Carnegie Science Center, the Children’s Museum, the National Aviary, the Andy Warhol Museum, City of Asylum, the Mattress Factory, and Randyland. James Gallery exhibits and places fine art by regional, national and international artists working in all media — painting, works on paper, sculpture, fiber arts and photography. We maintain an exciting selection of art and employ a broad network of resources to find exciting new work as well as significant older pieces. Beyond our in-house selection, we draw on multiple sources, research, and experience to locate art that will fulfill specific needs or requests. Technology continues to strengthen our options. our mission: to engage the public in creative experiences through contemporary craft Presenting contemporary art in craft materials by international, national and regional artists since 1971, Contemporary Craft offers cutting edge exhibitions focused on multicultural diversity and contemporary art, as well as a range of hands-on workshops, community outreach programs, and a store. We strive to engage visitors in the creative process through contemporary craft and design. Interpretive programs, lectures, performances and weekend activities are offered in conjunction with each exhibition. Contemporary Craft charges no admission.

We are located in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh. We first opened our doors in October of 2009 and have been going strong ever since. We sell unique greeting cards from small independent companies, arts & crafts made by local artists, hand-picked books and gifts, and the best selection of unique Pittsburgh-themed t-shirts in town. We pride ourselves on knowing the artists whose work we sell, and on offering a fun, engaging environment that celebrates our city!
