Heinz Hall

Reviewed By Elegance108 - Bridgeville, United States

I returned to Heinz Hall to see the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. It was a special performance for their conductor, Manfred Honeck’s 60th birthday. Pinchas Zucherman was the featured violin soloist. There was the world premier of a commissioned piece by Mason Bates that was delightful. Heinz Hall is real old school glamour. Filled with gilt, marble, and crystal chandeliers, it is also a wonderful venue for concerts and plays. When you are in Pittsburgh, attending a concert or play at Heinz Hall is worth your time.

Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

Reviewed By Blingjunkie - Guelph, Canada

Hubby and I were in town for an running event and it has always been his dream to see a Symphony live....So while we were in town, I was able to get tickets to this show called "Broadway" where they preformed all Broadway hits! We had nosebleed seats and I was really unsure as to what we would see from there, but I have to tell you, my husband was on the edge of his seat all night long! It didn't seem to matter that we were so high (one of the staff called it the Penthouse suite, to make us feel better) It didn't seem to matter. We really enjoyed our first ever Symphony experience! Two comments I would make is...I really would have preferred to have less vocals, and from our view point, it would have been better if the vocalists had taken just half a foot back, we would have been able to see everything even from way up at the top where we were. Other than that we have NO complaints! It was an excellent show! The performers were amazing and the theater itself was stunning! Bravo!!!

Two partners have done an excellent job of making over an old barn right in the Strip district. They serve only libations from Pennsylvania - wine, beer, spirits, even soft drinks. Wonderful open event space upstairs where we had a super party with about 70 people. Food catered in. Lots of folks downstairs enjoying themselves on a summer weekend.
