Pittsburgh has been remade and reimagined. Think 24 miles of riverfront trails, beautiful parks and historic attractions. Home to 90 neighborhoods, the ‘Burgh feels authentic and unpretentious. No visit is complete without a trip to the Strip District or PNC Park, a ride up the Duquesne Incline or a stop at The Andy Warhol Museum. Saint Anthony Chapel

Reviewed By brownthrasher - Bremen, United States

I came as a personal pilgrimage. The church opens promptly at 1 and not before. A tad dusty, which takes a bit of the sparkle out of the experience. The number and presentations of saintly relics is overwhelming. I felt like the air I breathed in there was full of the Holy Spirit. Disappointed that there are no more books about the chapel, because you are prohibited from taking photos. I don’t understand why ppl with dslr/smartphones are prohibited as no further light would add to light damage. If you cannot buy the book and you can’t take pictures......???? Grumble. Your spirit can not help but be lifted at the presence of thousands of the church’s heroes and heroines. Be there for the 1 pm tour then use the rest of the time to just soak in the atmosphere. Gift shop is a bit full of religious items easily obtained by any Christian bookstore. Not to sound too mercenary, but why not have reverently made 3rd class relics? Spread the religious “wealth.” Catholic or not, it is an experience that will be forever in your mind. So, so glad I pinched and saved to come here.

Calvary United Methodist Church

c.1893 Calvary is as inspiring as any of the finest Cathedrals in Europe. Elaborately decorated spires, louvers, gargoyles, geometric designs carved into the Cleveland bluestone. Vaulted oak ceilings are just a few of the architectural features capturing the imagination of the art critics and historians alike. The crowning feature of the building is a trio of Louis Comfort Tiffany windows.

We attended a wedding in this beautiful turn of the century cathedral and were just in awe. Beautiful stained glass windows and quarter sawn oak throughout. Beautiful architecture.
