Budget-minded travelers will appreciate Phnom Penh's reasonably priced hotel rooms (several top-rated hotels on TripAdvisor offer rooms around $40/night). Explore the city's temples, palaces, and the remnants of its French colonial history. Just outside the city, the The Killing Fields (Choeung Ek) are a reminder of Cambodia's tragic past-- a somber contrast to the booming city of today.

I went to both of their stores on St. 240; assisted by their lovely shop help, Mr. Pheap and Mr. Alan. They carry soft to touch blankets, scarves, ikat shorts, dresses....lots of items, including men's clothing. Most items are from natural fabrics and many hand woven. There was a particular dress I admired but a bit too tight. It could have been easily altered but they offered to custom make since they still had more of the same fabric. My measurements were taken and Voila! It was ready the next day Mr. Alan is the proprietor and is employing and training Cambodian women and men responsibly. Mr. Pheap is one of his designers and is so proud of his achievements, even traveled to Paris.

We passed by this place on Norodom Boulevard by accident, and were triggered by the sign in front of the temple. We were so pleasantly surprised by this shop! There’s a beautiful large collection of textiles and clothing, all hand made by disabled Cambodians, due to disease or landmines. There are up-cycled products such as backpacks and wallets. They also had jewelry made from old bullets and shells. And many more original items that are sustainable and for a good cause. We absolutely loved this store and were happy to spend our money there, especially if you also have seen enough of the markets that sell the same stuff.

I bought a pair of white topaz earrings. Sourced in Cambodia. David shared his wealth of knowledge and yet there was no pressure to buy. I love my earrings. A friendly dog hanging about.

Lotus Space is a sales outlet in Phnom Penh that offers a very select choice of contemporary jewelry and original ceramics. Ceramics showcased are Khmer cultural inspired and the contemporary jewellery are created by French and Cambodian designers. All our jewels are completely hand-made in Cambodia with best quality silver and with semi-precious stones. They all can be produced in gold.
Py Ngav, the Proprietor, is a wonderful designer of fine jewelry. His friendly manner and creativity make for a unique experience to his lovely shop in the heart of downtown Phnom Penh - right next to the National Museum. Py's sister is a gentle and lovely presence in the store too. I found several pieces for various family members in the shop and had one piece custom made. I was very pleased with everything. I highly recommend a trip to Lotus Space. The store is a pleasure to visit and the decor and ambiance well worth the visit too. Unique, custom made jewelry at affordable prices! You can't beat that.
