Handley Cellars is a small family-owned winery in California’s Mendocino County. Bonded in 1982, we produce around 12,000 cases of wine a year. Our quality starts with our Estate Vineyards in Anderson Valley. We are located at the northwest end of the Anderson Valley on 59 acres of the original Holmes Ranch. Still standing on the property are the now-refurbished ranch house, barn, and the original water tower. At Handley Cellars, we offer a wide variety of wines that complement today’s diverse cuisines. Winemaker Randy Schock seeks to make balanced wines that possess distinctive varietal characteristics, wines that reflect the soil and climate in which they were grown. Handley’s beautiful tasting room is located 6 miles northwest of Philo, California, on Highway 128. We offer tours by appointment, and our garden courtyard is open for picnics. Stop by to try our selections and, while visiting, enjoy our unique display of folk art collected from around the world.
Chris was a wonderful host and we throughly enjoyed the wine tasting at this boutique winery. He is very knowledgable about wine making and the local region. Every tasting was delicious and we didn't try a wine that we did not like! The special Pinot Noir that is a signature for Handley Cellars was the best. We joined the Wine Club and can't wait to get our first shipment.

Probably the best views in the Anderson Valley. Beautiful patio over looking the valley from above. The Pinot Noirs were excellent!

A Sense of Place. Terroir driven Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Gewurztraminer from Anderson Valley and Comptche in Mendocino County. Reservations for 6 or more are recommended for the best possible experience.
In a historic building, used for decades on an apple orchard, Phillips Hill has done a fabulous job preserving the essence of the building while carving out a beautiful wine tasting area. The charm of the old building is a perfect backdrop for the charm of their Pinots. Our trip through their wines was narrated by Natacha, the delightful wife of the wine maker. Top Notch Wines!

Anderson Valley became a magical place years ago for The Storys as they visited and met the families behind the wines. Smith Story Wine Cellars is no different, owners Eric and Ali are staffing the tasting room themselves in 2017, and of course Lord Sandwich! Hours are 12pm-5pm, Friday-Sunday. Monday 11-3pm.Well behaved dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a leash.
I was able to arrange a tasting with Eric Story and Alison Smith Story (and their director of hospitality Will Kinney) at their winery facility in Windsor while I was in the area recently. The facility has several nice tasting rooms, which helped make the experience very pleasant. Making it even more pleasant was tasting with Eric, Ali, and Will - and of course Eric & Ali's friendly Goldendoodle, Lord Sandwich, was there too. We tasted a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, two Anderson Valley Pinot Noirs, and a Cabernet Sauvignon - all really good. Very fun experience all around, and whether you make an appointment to taste in Windsor or visit the regular tasting room at The Madrones in Anderson Valley, you can't go wrong tasting the Smith Story wines.

Long Meadow Ranch is a family-owned agricultural enterprise producing grapes and wine, olives and olive oil, grass-fed beef and lamb, fruits, vegetables, and eggs. At our tasting room we feature wine flights from our Anderson Valley Estate, located in the “deep end” of the valley.
The Long Meadow Ranch tasting room in Philo is situated in the very stylish Madrones cluster of buildings. As we were staying at the Madrones it would have been silly if we didn’t take in all that this great holiday venue had to offer, especially as we could walk to the tasting room and linger. LMR has taken over a tasting room and substantially remodelled it into an equally stylish and extremely comfortable destination. It has a soft and comfortable seating area just as you walk in with tables where you can taste wine, olive oils or just have coffee; and a large centrally placed table to sit and sip to your hearts content. You are surrounded by modern cabinetry where the wines and products are tastefully displayed. We did the Tanbark Mill Vineyard Tasting and had the pleasure to be served by the manager, Mark, who led us through their delicious Anderson Valley wines at an unhurried pace. All of the wines were really good and of course we had to buy some to take home. There were a number of other people at the tasting room, some of whom were local residents - everyone there is so friendly - all having an equally enjoyable experience. We will be making a return visit to LMR in Philo but probably not until August 2019. Next time I will buy a bottle of wine and sit in the tasting room and slowly drink it, drinking in the warm and friendly atmosphere. This was a very memorable tasting experience and well worth a visit.

Set amongst old growth redwoods off Highway 128 in Philo, CA, our Twomey Anderson Valley Winery features a modern farmhouse-inspired tasting room surrounded by 38 acres of Pinot Noir vineyard. The tranquil, winding creekside drive opens up to beautiful gardens, wine caves set into the hillside and parking for visitors. Producing wines from the area since 2007, we are now able to craft our Monument

The saying goes that "service sells' and the people at Greenwood Vineyards exemplify what great service really is. Our host was very friendly, and she found and served us the types of wines that we liked to drink not what they wanted to try and sell us like other wineries. Our tasting was in a lovely setting in their garden, we were never rushed and we able to take our time to enjoy both the wines and the surroundings. Being "fruit forward" Pinot Noir lovers, they found numerous wines for us to try that we enjoyed and purchased.

We enjoyed wine tastings and always purchased at least one bottle of wine to take back to the hotel and enjoy the next day with a snack or picnic lunch. Our objective was to explore the wineries and support them at the same time. Most wineries deduct your tasting fee from the cost of the bottle or better yet do not charge from the outset if you specify you are going to buy wine. This winery has a nice wine tasting experience!
