In addition, at Colonia Adventures, we strive to help communities in the highland, jungle, and coastal areas. We promote sustainable tourism by providing local employment and preserving the natural beauty of the environments we visit. In these communities, we exclusively use houses, restaurants, and businesses owned by local people. Our guides are indigenous to the places we tour. We advice and educate these people so they have the same philosophy: to provide quality service, promote conservation, and preserve the natural setting and its historical legacy.

La Raya is a mountain range in the Andes (snow could be seen on the mountain peaks in the distance), located on the border of Puno and Cusco County in the middle of nowhere! and is the backdrop to a train stop where the Association of Artisans who congregate in this remote area with all their many wares so that passengers can make purchases. Set amid the incredible mountain scenery, it was something different. The clothing, alpaca woollen jumpers, cardigans, coats, scarves etc were well made and incredible value (US$20 for an alpaca wool jumper). Beware however, the altitude here is 4,319m and I did get a headache.
