Upon arriving to Saranda I knew I wanted to see more of the other locations outside of the general area. So, in loving the fine folks at Tea Tours, I opted to take a tour to Qeparo and Himara. I mean, you can't go wrong. An ancient village, reminiscent of what some movies are made of and the beautiful beach in Himara to enjoy after perusing Qeparo. And, Qeparo itself, set upon the top of a mountain, truly has some incredible photo opportunities to discover and capture. And the village, while barely inhabited by the locals, also has many opportunities to snap a great architectural photo. I do hope to tour a little more with Tea Tours, as everyone there is truly helpful, and kind. And, the guide, fantastic!

This 7 day tour aims to present Albanian cities/sites and objects, which fall under UNESCO protection. Albania counts several cities and objects that are part of our cultural heritage, so the value of this particular tour is of great cultural and archaeological importance. During the 7 day tour, you will explore the fabulous town of Berat (known as the city of the THOUSAND AND ONE WINDOWS), and Gjirokastra, the stone town that still fanatically fosters the tradition and culture of the country. You will also explore the ancient city of Butrint, which was proclaimed a museum in 1961, and in 1992 entered under the protection of UNESCO; The Blue Eye Natural Park; the fascinating old village of Qeparo, and enjoy free time on the lovely Himara beaches. We shall drive over the mountains to the scenic Drinos valley to see Gjirokastra, the austere stone city perched on the Wide Mountain. One of the most famous mediaeval towns of the region the city dates back to the 3rd century BC. We shall visit the mighty fortress, the old Bazaar and the 300 years old Skenduli house as one of the best representatives of the original architecture of Gjirokastra. We shall visit Benja thermal baths..A stone bridge arcs over a winding stretch of brilliantly blue-green water. Built-in the Middle Ages, it has been letting people cross the sulfur-rich river since the days of the Ottoman Empire. Warm water rushes beneath it, providing a relaxing treat for those who visit. Near the bridge, you’ll find the the Benja Thermal Baths, born from the geothermal waters near Përmet, Albania. The heated water flows down the river unless it gets diverted into one of the several human-made pools. They’re a splendid spot for a hot soak on a crisp, cool day.

I went horse riding with my girlfriend and with another couple of friends and we all agreed it was an amazing day. I'd say it was my favourite experience in Albania in the 3 months we've spent here. Avenir was a great host and guide and was able to communicate effectively with us. He was always looking out for everyone and was very enthusiastic about providing us with a great experience which he fully delivered on. None of us had experience with horses but they were so docile and well behaved that we very quickly became comfortable and any initial anxiety quickly disappeared. During this day out we went on narrow and often steep tracks which was very cool, it made me feel connected with the horse and nature. You don't just ride around a flat grass area, you actually going into the mountains to visit the remote and hard to reach villages. Lastly, we were lucky enough to go during the Orthodox Easter Sunday which meant we were treated to a proper homemade banquet. The family that hosted us were very welcoming and gave a little taste of what their life and traditions are like. I'd recommend this to everyone young and old apart from small kids or people that have significant trouble walking as there is some hiking involved. The horses are quite stable and are easy to handle even for absolute beginners. I highly recommend everyone to go try this you won't regret it!

My tour with Good Albania was delightful as it gave me an opportunity to explore the UNESCO heritage sites and indulge in the nation's wonderful cuisine. Originally, I was supposed to join one other person for the tour, but that individual had to cancel suddenly. So I ended up on a private tour and could adjust the pace of my journey as things unfolded. My guide Migert was easygoing and attentive to my needs, helping me get antihistamines when I experienced an allergic reaction and mailing my postcards near the end of my trip. The food throughout the trip was delicious, and the portions were so large that on most nights, I felt too full to eat anything for supper. The local guides throughout the trip were also informative and friendly, and meeting a local family in a mountain village was another highlight of the experience. Overall, the Good Albania team was courteous throughout my booking process and created an enjoyable and comprehensive tour. Thank you Good Albania! I hope to join you again for another tour in the future. I recommend that others stay another day in Tirana to enjoy more of the history of the city as I had to leave sooner than I had originally hoped.
