Please note: The Children's Museum and MuseumLab are temporarily closed in response to COVID-19. Hi! We're having a great time at Children's Museum of Pittsburgh and at MuseumLab, our new building for kids 10+, where you can go deep on art projects, cool tech and making projects from laser cutting to embroidery to animation. In the Children's Museum, design and create in the Art Studio, often alongside working artists. Young ones can explore colors, shapes and textures for their developing minds in the Nursery, Visit MAKESHOP, our tinkering space, to learn about real tools and materials such as wood, sewing machines, circuits and a loom. The Kindness Gallery, Garage and Waterplay round out the permanent exhibits. But not so fast - a rotating slate of temporary exhibits and programs such as marching bands, cultural traditions and artists, and amazing interactive art round out the offerings.
Our entire family (2 adults, 1 six year old and 1 four year old) had a great time here. So many great exhibits and hands-on activities for the kids. My kids loved the climbing maze thing. The H2O floor was great, but make sure to bring an extra change of clothes, or their bathing suits so they can have uninterrupted fun. The museum also offers a reciprocal membership, so if you have a membership to another science center in another city, you can get free admission.

So you’re planning a wedding for family and friends and it’s a full weekend event and some have young children. What to do? Hands On. Our children including the bride all grew up spending time at Hands On and it provided a great option for the young children her for our daughters wedding. It’s still the most amazing well thought out place for children. It’s fun and educational. Here’s a poorly kept secret - adults like it too. Thanks Hands On for solving our problem.

This gem is tucked away near the historic railway station off Bridge Street in New Hope. There are three quite large rooms where kids can explore and learn about the bones of the body, transmission of light, air pressure, shadows, downhill (toy) racers, climbing, finding fossils in the sand, and operate a rain cloud and play with boats in flowing water. They can operate a (stationary) ambulance, take blood pressure, operate a (pretend) ice cream stand, go grocery shopping and deliver the mail. I'm sure I've forgotten a few things... Recommended, although we went when there were about 10 children + parents and grandparents and could easily go from activity to activity as we pleased. Maximum occupancy is 100 people - that will require more time and patience.
