Penang is a Malaysian state located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia, by the Malacca Strait. It has two parts: Penang Island, where the capital city, George Town, is located, and Seberang Perai (formerly Province Wellesley) on the Malay Peninsula. The second smallest Malaysian state by land mass, Penang is bordered by Kedah to the north and the east, and Perak to the south.

Absolutely delighted that we decided to stop off Kok Lee Si temple after visiting Penang Hill. Penang hill was very very touristy, this was a welcome haven. The temple complex is beautiful, with intricate craftsmanship. It's a lovely environment to walk round. I took the tram to the top. The statue of Kuan yin takes centre stage. I loved the pagoda the best. They are doing loads of renovation work, it would be great to visit and see the finished article.

Penang Mansion Restaurant Suffolk House is a stunning example of an Anglo-Indian garden house and Malaysia's only surviving Georgian Mansion, originally built in the early 1800s. For decades Suffolk House had a glittering career as the home of successive British Governors. The winner of the 2008 Award of Distinction in the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation this extensively and passionately restored mansion is now a "must visit" destination for everyone who comes to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town, Penang.
The four of us had reservations for Sunday lunch, and each chose the set lunch priced RM 50.00 comprising one choice of three entrees, one main course of which a dozen were offered, followed by a dessert and tea or coffee. Yes, the food is very good, flavorful, a choice of Western (e.g. baked sea bass) or Malay (e.g. crab lakhsa) or fusion (e.g. nonya fish) and the venue in a Georgian mansion dating to 1804, former Government House, is a good as you can get. This place is perfect for two or more, and a necessary for every traveler to Penang. We live here and find the place and food a joy. We will come again for afternoon tea (which was highly recommended) and again for dinner; we want to try it all. Really, this is George Town at one of its memorable best.

An iconic building that reflects Penang's rich historical past. Great for photo shoots as the City Council as it was then known has preserved it rather well.
