The Peloponnese (/ˈpɛləpəˌniːz/) or Peloponnesus (/ˌpɛləpəˈniːsəs/; Greek: Πελοπόννησος, Pelopónnēsos) is a peninsula and geographic region in southern Greece. It is separated from the central part of the country by the Isthmus and Gulf of Corinth. During the late Middle Ages and the Ottoman era, the peninsula was known as the Morea (Greek: Μωρέας), a name still in colloquial use in its demotic form (Μωριάς).

Enjoy the silence and calmness of the view. There is a small church near the lake and only a few hundred meters away, you will find a beautiful old monastery, the monastery of St. George.

A large underground network of caves full of strangely shaped rock formations.
One of the most beautiful caves I have visited. To start off with the facilities were very well kept, very clean and all Covid measures adhered to. The sheer beauty we encountered during the short boat ride and walk through the cave was really something else. We dwarfed in comparison to the age and beauty of this phenomenon. Stalactites and stalagmites dating back ages in colors of nature that no human hand could achieve. Well worth the trip.

Visited this beach a couple of times while staying in nearby Pylos. It was recommended to us by the reception staff at our hotel. This is a beautiful long sandy beach and popular with with wind surfers. Not very busy when we were there and we were not charged for using sunbeds and umbrella. Presume they belonged to the nearby beach bar where we did buy drinks on each visit. I would happily return here for a beach based holiday and made a note of some accommodation that was next to the beach for future reference! There is also camping nearby.

This was a bucket list item for me due to my studies - and it did not let me down at all. The history and idea of a mans insight behind this feat of engineering and the human spirit is wonderful and to stand and admire it even more so. Even if you are not history mad - it is worth the stop to consider just what went into this canal and the impact that it has had on the region. Of course there is also some cute little souvenier shops, a great cafe with free toilets that are clean and well maintained. There is a little kebab shop to the very right of the main building (looking at it from the car park) dont miss trying a plate of the chicken kebabs, totally delicious....even if you have just stuffed breakfast down they are a must LOL.
