Things to do in Paris, Ile-de-France: The Best Sights & Landmarks

May 7, 2022 Christa Meece

Lingering over pain au chocolat in a sidewalk café, relaxing after a day of strolling along the Seine and marveling at icons like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe… the perfect Paris experience combines leisure and liveliness with enough time to savor both an exquisite meal and exhibits at the Louvre. Awaken your spirit at Notre Dame, bargain hunt at the Marché aux Puces de Montreuil or for goodies at the Marché Biologique Raspail, then cap it all off with a risqué show at the Moulin Rouge.

Rue Cler

This lively cobblestone street effectively preserves the ambience of Paris of old and is home to countless small shops.

Reviewed By Z3458RZerick - Orlando, United States

Rue Cler is a predominantly local market street, with individual shops for each food item. One shop for cheese. One for meats. One for fruit and veggies. Once for baked goods. Etc. There are also little cafes with street seating to sit and watch the world go round. If you go, be respectful of the locals...this is where they shop. Do yourself a favor...get a little something at several shops, get a bottle of wine, and go find some shade under a tree, or on a bench, at the south end of the Champs de Mars, and have a quiet picnic, and just enjoy being in Paris.

We attended a concert by Philip Glenister, tenor and Laurana Mitchelmore, piano. The acoustics were excellent. I suggest you wear a warm coat. There will be 4 more recitals weekly on Sunday evenings 11/04-11/25 at 5:00 pm. Don’t miss them.

Rue St-Dominique

In the heart of the 7th district, (a short stroll form the Eiffel tower) le Moulin de le Vierge on St. Dominique provides for a quick gourmet pause in this chic and lively neighborhood... Nestled amongst the fashion boutiques, cafes and bistros of the area, the bakery caters to both the local gourmands and the visitors of this quaint area located between the Esplanade and the Champs de Mars. Inside beyond the counter is a small tea salon where one can enjoy tartines, millefeuilles, macarons and various other sweet or savory treats, accompanied by a coffee or traditional hot chocolate. The boutique on St. Dominique is open daily from 7:30 to 20:30, closed Wednesdays.

This bridge is the closest one to Eiffel tower on its west end connecting it with Trocadero. Therefore it's occupied with tourists taking great pics and selfies from there. Excellent close ups can be taken from here, as well the sunset pics you can see.
