Things to do in Paris, Ile-de-France: The Best Shopping

August 15, 2021 Malia Yoakum

Lingering over pain au chocolat in a sidewalk café, relaxing after a day of strolling along the Seine and marveling at icons like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe… the perfect Paris experience combines leisure and liveliness with enough time to savor both an exquisite meal and exhibits at the Louvre. Awaken your spirit at Notre Dame, bargain hunt at the Marché aux Puces de Montreuil or for goodies at the Marché Biologique Raspail, then cap it all off with a risqué show at the Moulin Rouge.

Marche aux Puces de Montreuil

A large flea market at the border between the 20th Arrondissement and Montreuil.

Reviewed By violettesoleil - Los Angeles, United States

Upon entering this outdoor market, you can visibly see the difference between some of the other famous Paris flea markets and this one. However, if you are a clothing and vintage junkie like I am, as long as you have the eye and the drive to elbow your way between piles of musty clothing, you are sure to stumble upon some treasures. The market is divided into two parts, one side is primarily new merchandise and knock offs, while the other is vintage and second hand. Behind the areas where there are just isles of clothes in piles, there are sections of nicer items where the vendors have things on hangers. You must be careful and knowledgeable about brands and also what some of these designer labels look like, as the seller will have no problem telling you something is authentic when it is very clear, it is not. I can't wait to return, but make sure you have euros ( small change as well) snacks, ( no good food over here) and remember there are no restrooms close by.
