Colterris Wines

The name COLTERRIS was derived by combining a three letter abbreviation of Colorado “Col” with the Latin word “terris” meaning from the land. “COLTERRIS – from the Colorado land”. All COLTERRIS Wines are produced from 100% Colorado grapes grown in our estate vineyards in the Grand Valley AVA. Our two COLTERRIS tasting rooms are located in Palisade on Colorado's beautiful and picturesque Western Slope. The Grand Valley AVA produces world class wine grapes high in quality and distinction. The favorable eco-climate of Theresa's Vineyard, volcanic soils of the Grand Mesa and the waters of the mighty Colorado River contribute to the rich color, intense fruit flavors and characteristics that make Colterris wines unique. Visit our COLTERRIS Winery tasting room year-round and COLTERRIS at the Overlook tasting room seasonally, June through October. We offer wine tasting, tours, fresh seasonal produce, picnic items and spectacular views at both locations!

What a fun day!!! My husband and I stopped here on our road trip back home. Colterris Winery is wonderful. We got a reservation for the wine tour and tasting with Lance who was super informative and Justin, one of the key wine makers. With it being the largest winery in Colorado we got to try so many different and unusual wines; white Cabernet Sauvignon, Coloradeaux, Malbec rose, etc. Definitely add the charcuterie board and enjoy your tastes either in the “library” (wine cellar) or the patio if it’s warm enough. Don’t forget to tip your tour guide!!! And buy some wine and swag on your way out. We all gotta keep small business open!

I was out riding a rented bike and came across this stand. There were so many incredible jars of things and the best part was that they encourage you to sample them all. I was able to sample so many different flavors of honey, jam and salsas. Needless to say, I left very happy and couldn't wait to come back with my car so that I could stock up. I came home with some wonderful treats that my family has really enjoyed!!

We drove from Taos to Palisade to enjoy traveling through Colorado’s amazing fall foliage colors and to go grocery shopping with our primary mission to buy a bunch of Palisade Peaches which are the sweetest and juiciest peaches on the planet that we bought from various Farmers Markets. We stayed at Palisade’s Wine Country Inn totally surrounded by grape vines for their nearby winery, which I would highly recommend. We knew we arrived near the end of Palisade’s harvest season of their beautiful and bountiful orchards along the Colorado River. The Fruit Stand tent off I-70 was being taken apart and the nearby produce stands and stores had Colorado potato’s, pumpkins, squash, chillie peppers, tomato’s, onion’s, various melons, honey, jams, etc. which we stocked up on, but at each stop we were told they sold every peach the day before. Finally a shop told us Talbot’s would still have peaches. We had taken the “Palisade Orchard’s Scenic Driving Tour” (very worthwhile) at Sunrise before any fruit stands or orchard’s opened so we knew where Talbot’s Orchard was and they did have plenty of peaches displayed. I asked to buy a large case of peaches. They told me they wanted to sell all of their peaches that day and sold my case for 1/2 price plus through in a extra $20 flat of peaches for free. Thanks again Talbot’s, we will get there earlier next year. Due to Talbot’s generosity towards us we gave away the peaches in the flat they gave us to our hotel maid, gas attendant, quick shop and every other shop or stop we made and told them this is a Talbot’s Palisade Peach. Most folks we gave them to knew how special Palisade peaches are and the few who didn’t are in for a pleasant surprise.

Typical Farmer’s Market with local produce. The Drink Shack was fun and cheap. Live music, shady spots with benches, and public restrooms all made it enjoyable even with an infant.
