Reservations required!! The museum is open year round for a visit but you must book your visit by email or phone. For reservations just call a few hours before the appointment and agree to the tour. The visits are carried out only in Italian / english.
I'm not sure how a museum can be so unassuming from the outside yet is a real gem inside. There is only a small name on the buzzer to enter but what lies inside is wall to wall ceramic tiles and also displays of vintage pieces and furniture. Entrance fee included a personal guided tour in english or italian. A wonderful experience.

Palazzo Butera, bought by Francesca and Massimo Valsecchi in 2016 with the aim of creating a versatile center for arts and culture in Palermo, starts a first phase of contact with the city. Cantiere Aperto – which means literally “open building site” – is an initiative that allows the public to visit the area where the renovation works are being completed. The palace is an open laboratory, drawing together history, arts and culture in an interdisciplinary exercise aimed at finding solutions for social development. Open to the city of Palermo and the world beyond, the ground floor will offer a reference library and many galleries for temporary exhibitions from both home and abroad. The first floor contains conference and events rooms. The second floor will accommodate a museum, displaying the Valsecchi art collection. Today most of the renovation has been completed. Only the second floor is still under restoration, but it will be completed in a few months.

Historic building of the fifteenth century, with frescoes and furnishings of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. It displays around 300 works of art from the 12th to the 19th century in 12 rooms. 11 rooms belong to "Le Stanze dei Vescovi", the noble floor of the Archbishop's Palace, with the Alcova of Cardinal Gravina and the Sala Borremans entirely freshly painted in 1733.

An excellent art gallery of mainly countryside scenes and portraits by local artists from 20th century, presented in a spacious palazzo. There was absolutely no one else viewing on our visit. There is also a bar and cafe with garden outside seating. Well worth a visit and one does not get overdosed by biblical iconography one sees in all the churches anyway.

Felt like home. Don't misunderstand it; the early antiquity years of Sicily, weren't Roman but Greek (and a bit of Phoenician). This place pulses of splendour. It's one of the finest Greek Antiquity museums I ever saw, and sends you back 2,500 years, when the Greeks were the naval megaforce of Mediterranean Sea, spreading their colonies from Spain to the Black Sea. Some of the most magnificent items from classical greek ages of Magna Grecia, in a very beautiful building. A real history jewel!
