Specially for your children it's a nice hands on science experience. But even for us it was fun to experience some of the tests. We have a 5year old son and he was overexcited when we started, but after the first round and something to drink, we went for a second round. This time with a little bit more patience.

This was a very interesting museum, more for my husband because he was a small child in Kaiserslautern during the war. Much of the information was in German and was very informative showing the town before, during and after the war. There was a gentleman at the front desk who took the time to walk with us and discuss the war with my husband. Not everything was about the war, there were also archaeological exhibits and outside there was a really old coach. There was no charge to enter but you could make a donation on the first floor.

In 1938 work this huge tunneling/bunker system began. It has a narrow gauge railway system built by the Nazis to carry soldiers and equipment to battle positions on the nearby French border. This tunneling system was used by the USA after the war and into the 1990's as a warehouse. There's a great mix of German and Allied military equipment in here. These tunnels are deep underground at certain points, so it's cold! Bring a coat. In January and February of 1945, George Patton led the Allies here in what was called "the Siegfried Line." 5 € per is well worth it, this is a main, top highlight for anyone into WWII or war in general. The nearby town of Pirmasens is well worth a stop for lunch or dinner as well!

The museum itself is stunning. The architecture is amazing. 6 euros to enter. I visited 3 wings of the site. Beautiful art. Abstract art is one gallery not to miss. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. I visited with two German guides which only one spoke English. Still, we communicated with my little German that I knew and what very little English one of the guide knew and we had a great visit.
