The 1000-year-old Norwegian capital sits at the head of Oslo Fjord. This stunning setting gives hints of the wild wonders that lie just beyond the city. From taking in visual delights at Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking Ship Museum, the Munch Museum and Holmenkollen, to the challenging content within the new Nobel Peace Centre and the Holocoust Center, Oslo offers plenty of food for thought. The Oslo Pass allows free travel on public transport, free parking and many museum and sight admissions.

Experience one of Europe’s most beautiful train journeys. The Bergen Line is the scenic mountain track to the fjords.
In hindsight, this might have been a trip better done in the Spring or Summer, mainly because when there has been a lot of snow everything is white. Where there would be glistening blue lakes and green landscape, there is no delineation since the lakes are frozen and covered in snow, as is the land. Having said that, still a great experience with some friendly co-travellers and comfortable seating in Komfort class with free tea and coffee. Note that in 2020 all Komfort class carriages are being replaced with a new Pluss carriage which has upgraded facilities and at-seat power. I might just have to go back in the Summer!

You simply just take the route B1 from the city hall and experience the beautiful Oslofjord. This is probably one of the cheapest activities in Oslo...

We used the ferry to get to the museums and it was a great choice. Not only was it quicker and cheaper than a taxi you also got to see the harbour from a view not available on land. The boat was a good size and more than comfortable for the short journey of each leg. The crew were excellent. By coincidence we got the same crew for each of our three legs. The young lady helping everyone on board remembered us and asked how our visits were going. Little touches like remembering customers really make people feel welcome.

Use this station to get to and from the airport in about 20 minutes and during your stay in Oslo, patronize many of the restaurants which all serve fresh food, good portions, at reasonable prices.

Vy takes you to several of the most attractive destinations in Norway by train and by bus. The Norwegian scenery often times makes the travel itself an attraction.
We took NSB service to/from Oslo airport to City. We used Nationaltheatret (National Theatre) station and Oslo Lufthavn (Oslo airport). From National Theatre station it comes in track 3 or 4 and runs 18, 28 and 48 past every hour from National Theatre - weekdays mornings - this was May 2018. We took 9:28 R10 service and it was three stops and takes about 30min. Tips: 1) I recommend taking the train from National Theatre station (if you are going to airport) as the train got crowded from the Oslo Central station. Travelling with two children on my own this was a good choice. 2) You can buy tickets for NSB service to airport using RuterBillett app - it's 4zones and 101 NOK. I think if you buy not using app (counters) it's more expensive. 3) use NSB service cheaper than FlyToGet express train (runs with F numbers but more frequent service). If not for my friend saying this I would have got on the FlyToGet service as it is the more frequent and visible/ promoted one 4) if traveling with children at weekends, kids travel free in this service.
