The friendly staff explained to us the special needs of many of the animals here, needs which make it difficult for them to find a home. We're glad that this is a place who cares enough to take them in!

Phantom Falls is a seasonal waterfall on the North Table Mountain Ecological Preserve. It only flows after the rains, so you'll need to be prepared to visit when it's cold, get a little muddy, and pass a few cows along the way (just give them a wide berth). It's particularly beautiful in March and April when the wildflowers are in bloom. If you go right after particularly heavy rains, you'll find other smaller waterfalls flowing on your way to Phantom Falls. This moderate hike is a Must that everyone should do at least once while in Butte County.

A beautiful, tranquil lake for waterskiing and bass fishing.
Had no idea this place went on so far! Learned that Lake Oroville is the 3rd largest Dam in the nation and that its bigger than the Hoover Dam! Could see the dam all the way from the outlet!

Great place for water fun. You can rent a kayak, pedal boat, & other types of non motorized devices. I think the boat rentals are only Fri, Sat & Sun, but definitely worth it, on a hot weekend.
