Strawberry Hill Wayside

Reviewed By ZenDark30 - Portland, United States

Most people mistakenly call sea stars star fish. They aren’t fish. Sea stars are one of the many wonders that can be seen at Strawberry Hill. During low tide, Pacific seals use the rocks as a haul out and at other times they can be seen feeding with their cute heads bobbing about. Take your binoculars and dress warm with rain gear.

Natural Bridges Viewpoint

So beautiful and worth the stop. Got there on a clear day and was mesmerized by the view. Easy on and off the highway with an easy walk to the viewing deck. You can continue on the unmarked trail all the way down to the arch, but not meant for elderly or people not in fit condition.

Natural Bridge Viewpoint

Visiting this enables you to view where the Rogue River actually travels underground (through a lava tube). Excellent scenery/white water. One request: I found an abandoned diaper on the trail close by. Please remember: if you bring it in, pack it out. This kind of thing ruins an already-shrinking habitat. If you have to do your business, bring a shovel. And, no, I'm not an environmentalist, but actually a hunter. Not much brain science: You don't take care of the environment, soon there will be nothing left to hunt and eat. Speaking of which, this is a hunting free area/unit.

The Vista House and Columbia River Gorge falls including Multnomah, were closed due to covid so we had to settle for this scenic viewpoint. The views were stunning and not very busy.
