The National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center offers living history demonstrations, interpretive programs, exhibits, multi-media presentations, special events, and more than four miles of interpretive trails. We offer a variety of interpretive programs and special exhibits year-round. One mile of well-preserved ruts lie on the Interpretive Center grounds, and are accessible by the trails or from a turnout on Highway 86 about a half-mile west of the Center's entrance.
This place presents more history of the Oregon Trail and its people than any other I have visited. There are exhibits of the migration and lifelike models of the people, animals, and their possessions. The ranger presented an interesting introduction of the topic. One can also view the nearby ruts left by the wagons as they passed through.

Loved this museum in downtown Sandy, great displays and local history of the area and PNW. The volunteers there are very helpful, and knowledgeable of not only the display pieces but of the area history as well. The displays change from time to time I hear, so will come back again later this year when we have nothing to do ... Enjoy!!

What an incredible find while vacationing on the McKenzie River! We weren't sure what we'd find as we turned off McKenzie Highway on a dirt road and followed it to the Museum. As luck would have it Mr. Ron Miner was working in the Museum and invited us in. What a wealth of artifacts and historical displays we enjoyed! The intimate size and perfectly curated displays were amazing. Ron Miner was kind enough to provide background information about the displays and provide historical information that made our tour especially interesting. We were so glad we went!

Explore Oregon’s past at the Oregon Historical Society! Located on the historic South Park Blocks in downtown Portland, the Oregon Historical Society’s museum is open seven days a week and features original and traveling exhibitions that tell stories of the people, places, and events that have shaped Oregon and American history. In February 2019, the Oregon Historical Society unveiled a brand permanent exhibit, Experience Oregon, that chronicles the state’s complex history through rare artifacts, hands-on interactives, and digital displays. The Society’s world-class research library is open Tuesday through Saturday and is the perfect place to research a historic home or find a long-lost pioneer relative. Don’t forget to stop by the museum store for a uniquely Oregon souvenir!
Totally awesome and gives you a feel for that 1964 epic tour! Did I mention that it is free as well?

OPEN MID-MARCH TO OCTOBER 24, 2019 Housed in the former Natatorium, 33,000 sq ft of permanent and changing exhibits tell the stories of the real people and businesses that developed the region following the discovery of gold in the mountains nearby the Oregon Trail. Home to the world renowned Cavin Warfel Rock Collection, one of the largest in the western US.
Though the museum in Baker City has a magnificent stone collection and display, a diplay about the making of the musical, "Paint Your Wagon," as well as an excellent collection of artifacts, I became intrigued about Leo Adler's role in the town and, in addition, the significant number of Jewish businessmen who helped develop Baker City.

Focus is to preserve and interpret the environmental and human history of Tillamook County. Many local artifacts and library with over 3,000 volumes, many devoted to genealogy.
Such a great museum for such a little town. Something for everyone. In addition to museum artifacts there is an extended display of taxidermy.
