We had an absolutely fabulous day out on the water with Gabrielle and Bruce. The boat is gorgeous, with lots of room to move around and relax, the food was amazing, and our hosts took really good care of us. Our trip was to watch the America's Cup with a group of friends, and we swam, ate, had a good old singalong and watched the racing... it could not have been a more perfect day. We'll definitely be booking again.

If Fullers ran their tourist service like their commuter service, the risk of transferring pests to our wonderful outer Hauraki Gulf islands would be next to nothing. Yesterday they combined the 4:45 Gulf Harbour service with the 5:15 service. They used a ferry thank frankly isn’t suitable for any service let alone capable of carrying the volume of passengers that it needed to. Harbour Cat is old, noisy and small. There were about 25 people standing on the back deck for what is normally a 55 minute trip many of them without suitable handholds and many getting quite wet (including me) from spray. Unfortunately there was no option to move and the ferry was packed. The volume from the engines was,I’m quite sure, at such a level that, had it been experienced in a workshop would have made noise reduction safety equipment absolutely necessary. Not only that the ferry left Auckland late and didn’t arrive in Gulf Harbour until 6:30, which, had they left on time would have made a 55 minute trip a 75 minute one. On arrival at Gulf Harbour the crew took multiple attempts to dock which just added to the time and frustration. To exit the ferry we had to climb a ramp at nearly 45 degrees which, considering the number of elderly passengers, was frankly downright dangerous. Unfortunately this is not an isolated incident. Fullers will often replace Gulf Harbour ferry services with a bus. It’s understandable if it’s due to actual weather conditions but often it’s due to “operational constraints” meaning that they don’t have enough available ferries to provide the services they are contracted to. Gulf Harbour seems to be the route that has to give up their ferry service for a bus. I would definitely not recommend Fullers.

Graham from Leisure Tours picked four of us up from our hotel for a half day wine tour, visiting four wineries with lunch included. He was friendly, very knowledgeable and pointed out places of interest as he drove us to the Waipara Valley. We were very comfortable in his people mover with plenty of room for us all. Lunch at Waipara Springs Winery was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. The three other wineries had knowledgeable and friendly staff telling us all about their wines. We tasted several varieties and they were delicious. Graham had a good rapport with each winery and took us into each of the tasting rooms. We would certainly recommend this tour. We look forward to visiting Christchurch again and would contact Leisure Tours regarding the other tours they offer.
