With hundreds of man-made lakes, state parks, casinos, museums and nightlife and dining opportunities in revitalized downtown areas in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, there is a lot to see and do in the Sooner State. The state is dotted with phenomenal lakes where swimming, boating and bass fishing are the most desired activities. Some of the state’s most popular lakes include Broken Bow Lake located near the Quachita Mountains; Grand Lake in the northeastern corner of the state at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains and Lake Murray in the hills in the southern part of the state.
While the state is known for its many outdoor activities like great fishing, golf, hiking, canoeing and boating, make sure you don’t overlook its fantastic museums. Heading the list are Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, featuring the world’s largest collection of art and artifacts from the American West; the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, which tells the story of the American Cowboy; and the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, which has a permanent collection of American and European art. A venerable family favorite activity is Frontier City Amusement Park in Oklahoma City, which has dozens of rides and shows.

Only a few blocks up the street from the Osage County Historical Museum, this is a beautiful church worth seeing for its historic stained glass windows and the beautiful sanctuary. One of our nicest surprises in Pawhuska. We were fortunate to be able to talk with Father Sean who approached us during our visit and told us a little about the history of the parish and the church. A truly nice and remarkable priest that made our visit so memorable.

Holy Family Cathedral is the mother and head church for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tulsa in Eastern Oklahoma. It is a beautiful neo-Gothic edifice built in 1914, and recently renovated. Masses are celebrated everyday either in the Cathedral Church or the Chapel of Peace located in the basement. Our Whole Family Faith Formation Program, called Wednesdays at the Cathedral, begins each Wednesday with an affordable dinner at 5:30pm and then the different programs for youth, teens, and adults run from 6:30 - 8:00pm. Tours of the church are available upon advanced request.
The Cathedral is my parish and I am there at lest three times per week. The building itself exudes an atmosphere of spirituality and prayer.

The Moore-Lindsay Historic House Museum is an 1899 Queen Anne Victorian style home that was owned by two of Norman's early prominent residents, William Moore and Harry Lindsay. Come visit the museum for a trip back in time to the early 1900s of Norman and Oklahoma Territory. This museum includes many original furnishings as well as temporary local history exhibits and an interactive space for kids.

Art-deco National Historic Landmark.
Knowing Tulsa's reputation for its Art Deco architecture, we wanted to see a few examples. This is one of the best! A church built around 1930, it is a stunning building made of Indiana limestone and Minnesota granite. Walk around and look up!! Bring your binoculars or camera telephoto lens so that you can see the top of the towers and the beautiful details of the statuary. Unfortunately due to COVID, we were unable to go inside the church building.

Immerse yourself in the architecture and design of Frank Lloyd Wright. Take the historic tour of Price Tower which includes a visit to the restored 19th floor executive office of H.C. Price. Also enjoy the growing collections and exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, furniture, textiles and design.
OUTSTANDING TOUR! We were fortunate to have the head of Tours and Education of this amazing building, Price Conner, as our guide. Terrific! Price is an architect himself, and his insight, stories, history and anecdotes of this Frank Lloyd Wright 1950s skyscraper and the plaza around it will just make your day. Unusual building, and visiting the Lloyd-Wright, Taliesin-designed community center next door will satisfy your FLW fix. Absolutely worth visiting - this was my 2nd visit and I'll return. Well done, all!

I had toured the Marland Mansion in the late 80’s and loved it so I invited some friends for a revisit. There is so much there to take in and since my first visit a number of the Marlands original furnishings had been returned and/or restored. I enjoy this revisit as much as my friends who were on their first visit. Allow time to tout the first Marland home on Grand as well.

We stopped here after visiting Mt Scott and it was really pretty! The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. She gave us the option of letting us go through on our own, or giving us the guided tour.
