*If you want to participate in a painting experience, you need to make a reservation by the day before at the latest from the website. We can't accept the reservation on the day. *Our painting experience is full-fledged, so we recommend it to a group of adults. But if your children want to participate in the workshop, they can participate from 6 years old. Our shop uses Bingata ( the traditional painting work of Okinawa ) techniques for familiar fabric articles ( T-shirt, stole and card case, etc..). You can see and buy them in our shop. Moreover, you can experience this technique, and take the work home (Please contact us in advance to make a reservation.). Let's enjoy the traditional culture of Okinawa!

“Sasagirian” is a place to learn Japanese traditional tea ceremony, flower arrangement, and calligraphy. Through experiencing Japanese traditional culture, you will also learn cultural history and the culture of hospitality called “Omotenashi”. “Sasagirian” is located in Kibogaoka, a space surrounded by mountains, greenery and flowers, and is a surprise for all who visit. With the guidance of each instructor, you will sense tranquil moments of “Wabi-Sabi” the Japanese sense of beauty. Some of the charms in Sasagirian include being able to sense and experience Japanese and Ryukyu style sweets in tea ceremony class, Okinawan tropical flowers in flower arrangement class, and the heart of Ryukyu in calligraphy class.
We spent he afternoon of my wife’s birthday learning the Tea Ceremony. What a great cultural and educational experience. The staff were so kind and the location was beautiful. We left with a sense of calmness. We now want to try the calligraphy and floral arrangement classes.

This place is near Shuri Castle. You can google for the exact location as it is situated in a quiet residential area - i think. One will be shown how to use the paints and the corals (they come in various size and shapes) to do printing on textiles. The cost of this covers the materials including the T-shirt, table cloth, etc. You can spend all the time in this air-conditioned place and finished your "artwork".

"GusukuBingata DyeingStudio" celebrates its 48th anniversary this year. Ryukyu Bingata is a traditional dyeing method in Okinawa that was inherited from the Ryukyu Kingdom period around 500 years ago. We wholeheartedly craft each accessory, tapestry and more as we preserve the traditional Bingata techniques while searching for new and modern tastes. We have the same concept since we first started this business, “Bingata design in every living” will add color to people’s lifestyles.
We enjoyed meeting Shingo and seeing his beautiful studio. We learned about the tradition of Bingata and he walked us through the process and helped us create beautiful pieces of art and lasting memories of our time here in Okinawa. I highly recommend his shop and look forward to going again to create more pieces.
