If you are looking for an active place to stay with world-class attractions, Ohio’s major cities can satisfy any vacation desire. Each offers its own distinct flavor of fun, from professional sports – Bengals (Cincinnati), Cavaliers (Cleveland) and Indians (Cleveland again) – to museums, outdoor activities and more. One of the most famous is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. If football is your thing, don’t miss the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. For the science-minded, visit the meat eaters at the Carnivore Conservation Center in the Wilds near Cambridge, dedicated to the breeding and scientific study of endangered mid-sized carnivores. Kids will also love Planet Snoopy in Sandusky or the Columbus Zoo’s Zoombezi Bay Waterpark and Jack’s Landing rides.

Great place for herb lovers. Lots of educational information and a shop where one can buy some excellent items made with herbs as well as herbs themselves. Lot of tea to choose from and books as well.

As one of the largest animal conservation sites in the US, this place was an amazing experience to see endangered species conservation in an environment that replicates many of the animals natural ecosystems. However, it was not just about the animals! 10,000 acres of Coal Strip Mined area has become a class room for how to restore a damaged landscape's soil, plant, water and animal environments. Plus with Zip Line, Horse Back and Fishing excursions, there is lot of fun to be had to. I the overnight accommodations were diverse and well appointed. From Yurts for the adventuresome to Large family and group accommodations; this place has it all.

As an alumni I am biased but a trip yourself will not go unrewarded. In the center of campus is the ‘oval’. A very large open area with grass and trees with plenty of space for studying under a tree or a quick pickup game of frisbee. OSU maintains a good mix of new and old buildings adding to its charm. It’s close to downtown Columbus so many shops, bars, restaurants and the like are near by. In addition right on campus is the recently built Ohio Union, a place well worth a visit in its own right. Then there is the venerable Ohio Stadium better known as the ‘horseshoe’ where the Buckeyes football team plays. If you get a chance and have time, arrange for a tour at guest services, it’s a fun experience. Another item to put on your list is to visit the Schottenstein Center where the basketball team plays and also take time to visit the trophy room in the football facilities building. There is plenty of parking in the campus garages except on home football games. And if you go on a home game Saturday do your planning well ahead of time to navigate the closed roads and traffic.

We enjoyed a fantastic tour by a current student, who was able to give us a comprehensive description of life at Oberlin. This school has beautiful green spaces, is very spacious and well situated, and has diverse opportunities for study and individual growth.

Really interesting and well maintained trails. Great for all levels of hiking. There were tons of old structure to find, bodies of water and landmarks to explore. Beware of dogs off leash though there were many and not all friendly.
