I went to Fukuoka for the Rugby World Cup. When looking up what to do in the area this definitely caught my eye. It was a little off the beaten track and I was on foot but it was so well worth it. You will no doubt visit a lot of temples in Japan but this one was quirky (as well as spiritual) and it made for a very fun afternoon. I am so glad I made the time to get there. If you get the chance, I recommend a visit and try crawling through the frogs mouth. There are quite a few stairs to walk up, so I'd be mindful if you're travelling with a pram or little people. I went here after spending the first half of the day in Yanagawa - I found it quite achievable to get a train from Yanagawa to Nyoirinji Temple and then back to Hakata Station in Fukuoka CBD. I was travelling with my 60yo parents
