In 1905, it was the site of a major Russian Revolution uprising by crew members of the Battleship Potemkin. The nice old town area has a beautiful opera house, and the city has many great beaches.

This is an Incredible landmark in Odessa, it is near the Main Train Station as a point of reference, it has religious article store that has some very precious art in beautiful hand made frames, the prices for Foreigners are incredibly cheap, if you are not orthodox the priest in charge reserves the right not to sell it too you, even if you are Christian, the Church itself i was not able to access the day I was there but if you are in Odessa It would be a great part of your walking tour, which I recommend highly, as the architecture in Odessa is very unique with very much Greco Roman and French Provincial style buildings, this city is addicting to the eye of the artist and the romanticist, I would call it the jewel of the Black Sea, plus its inhabitants are very friendly and educated Enjoy!
