Musee Dom Robert et de la tapisserie du XXe siecle

Reviewed By ednafishhorse - Castres, France

Walked by on many occasions never thought to stop in,sure glad we did, simply an outstanding and distinctive display of the works of Dom Robert. I recognized the work, from a magazine article or a art book that I saw some years past.Just the amount of time/work that goes into a tapestry is AMAZING. Great visit, the school museum that is in the same building(same entry ticket) is so,so,and a bit of an anticlimax,so I would suggest to see that area first.

La Cooperative-Collection Ceres Franco

Since 2015, the Cérès Franco Collection has been housed in an exceptional setting: the former wine cooperative cellar of Montolieu. Resolutely international, the Cérès Franco Collection brings together around 2,000 works from the 20th and 21th centuries, some of which are presented each year on a different theme. Brazilian and European naivety, South American popular art, art brut, self-taught, singular, artists from the CoBra movement or the New Figuration, the provenance of the works reflects an eclectic and independent taste for an art situated on the fringes of the major artistic currents. This collection reflects, with a rare coherence, the gaze of an audacious and demanding collector who has turned to intense works. Each year, therefore, a temporary exhibition, to be held from April to November, is organised with a guest curator who looks at this collection while engaging in a dialogue with other institutions or collections.

This is the huge museum in the center of the city. With very few other visitors, I enjoyed myself watching things inside slowly.

Musee Fabre

Reviewed By Lefourragere

The musee Fabre is a fantastic destination in Montpellier, we paid 10 euros and saw the Picasso exhibition which was well presented and certainly showed his sense of humour, the ticket gives entry to the permanent collection which starts off with some exhibits on art restoration then the gallery unfolds over many floors with room after room of wonderful paintings, - I think the ticket allows you to go back as you might need to explore in stages, entry to the maison sebattiere is included, and whilst attractive is relatively small and won't take long! It shouldn't be a surprise to find something of the quality of the Fabre in Montpellier, there should just be more like it!

Chateau Fort of Lourdes

Reviewed By michaelsX3039KB - New York City, United States

Lourdes is said to be the place where heaven touches the earth. Whilst the Sanctuary for Christian pilgrims represents heaven, this medieval castle symbolizes the earth walking in its botanical garden, dwelling in the intimate museum of the Pyrenees, or visiting the Notre Dame du Chateau (where the original tabernacle of St. Bernadette's Church can be admired and the original cross of Jesus and the statues of St. Peter and Paul) is just a celebration for the eyes as they notice stunning views on the beautiful town of Lourdes, the churches & cathedrals, the Sanctuary along the river Gave, and the majestic snow-covered mountains the local staff doesn't speak much English (hey this is no Chicago), but quite friendly and fairly customer-oriented (not money minded at all), and the General Manager who I believe has a background in the history of fine arts often organizes sublime exhibitions on Lourdes and the Pyrenees for master Rodin aficionados, there is a sanguine drawing from the sculpture August Rodin tucked in the exhibition room right from the majestic tower. Enjoy your visit in this must see historical monument on your journey toward eternity!
