When 13th-century Portuguese Queen Isabel passed through Obidos and marveled at its beauty, her husband King Denis I simply gave it to her. For centuries after, the kings of Portugal followed suit, presenting the picturesque little town to their queens as a wedding gift. With its white buildings shining as brightly now as then, the walled city of Obidos is very popular with tourists, its hillside location offering amazing views of the Estremadura area. The medieval castle is a main attraction.

Praia D'El Rey is arguably one of the most stunning golf courses in Europe. It's set among extensive pine forests and undulating dunes, with spectacular views over the Atlantic and the Berlengas Islands beyond. The 18-hole golf course was designed by the renowned American golf architect Cabell B.Robinson and was inaugurated on 14th June 1997. Deep bunkers, sloping greens and sandy dunes contrast sharply with the lush fairways, making it the complete golfing challenge.Praia D'El Rey is rated amongst the top golf courses in Europe by Golf World Magazine and is one of Portugal's major golfing destinations for both private and sponsored events. The course is a mixture of seaside links and parkland holes with a par of 73, offering the golfer a unique experience. Players are required to have a valid golf handicap certificate. Minimum handicap requirements are men 36, ladies 36.Enjoy your game!

The 18 hole championship golf course designed by Seve Ballesteros has magnificent golf and Atlantic ocean views, a clubhouse with pro shop, restaurant, bar, members' lounge and a large terrace with incredible views over the golf course and the ocean.
A brilliant golf course and just excellent service from the folks in the clubhouse. Great food at reasonable prices made so much better by the manager and waitresses. 5 stars.

I played this course 3 times in July 19. € 65/18 holes, trolley 6,50. Carts expensive. Not crowded but better to call in advance. Walkable but quite the hike. I'm 39 and it was ok. Trolleys don't have any straps to fasten the bag. Bag kept rolling or sliding off. Great views of the sea, amazing design and pristine nature. One stupid hole (#17), otherwise well laid out. Doesn't get boring. I'm a 21 hcp and found the course a little unfair. One bad shot and you're lucky to even FIND the ball. Lost a lot of balls and never found any. I found the "55" (5500 m) appropriate. Playing this course strategically pays off. Driver only on longer Par 4's and always lay up to your favorite approach distance. The wind was BRUTAL. Up to 3 clubs difference. Two reachable Par 4's and a possible Tiger line on 17, be smart ;). Even the Par 3's are nasty because of the undulated greens. Hit the wrong tier, have fun putting through 3-4 breaks or over huge ridges...or watch your seemingly good tee shot end up in the rough or bunker. Green speed was surprisingly slow, Praia D'el Rey had faster and better manicured greens. Clubhouse, personnel and facilities were all top notch. Great reception, very friendly. Starter and head ranger very nice and helpful. Pro Shop is small (part of the reception area) and has the basics. Didn't eat at the restaurant. All in all, great experience. Very unique, but not a Links course. More like a hybrid between different styles. And that's what makes it so great!
