we went to visit, just because we had an hour to kill. little did i know that we would find a true working mill! Nigel Moon - a true living image of windy miller - was more than happy to tell us the history of this great working mill and let us climb up into the upper levels of the tower. Would loved to have been able to buy some flour but as we live overseas it wasn’t really possible. But talking to Mr Moon has made me more determined to buy quality bread or even try to make it myself! great place to take children

The splendid Great Hall of Oakham Castle is one of the finest Norman Halls in England. The Hall is best known for its collection of enormous commemorative Horseshoes donated by members of the Royal Family and Peers of the Realm. It is also decorated with a range of 12th century sculptures. The grounds of the Castle are a peaceful oasis in the centre of Oakham.
Amazing collection of horseshoes and lovely stories about them from our volunteer guide Jim! Free entry and parking. Highly recommended.

We chose this for my husband's funeral and to the best of my knowledge we were the first people to ever hold a funeral here. It's a wonderful location for it and I would recommend it unhesitatingly. We had a humanist service and the space was perfect, not too overwhelming and not too small, perfect. Parking is no problem, and it makes what could be a dreary experience into something memorable for the right reasons

We are a family owned and run farm park on the edge of the lovely market town of Oakham. We have a wonderful variety of animals to see, a playground and a lovely Tea Room and gift shop. The Tea Room has a wonderful selection of cakes, sandwiches, hot food, drinks and ice creams. You can also have Afternoon Tea with us. We are just a 10 minute walk from Oakham High Street but we also have free onsite parking.
We visited Rutland Farm Park for the first time on a sunny Sunday. It's a lovely, big working farm park with lots of great animals to see, hear and smell (and some to feed)! We saw sheep, cows, goats, horses, donkeys, pigs, llamas, alpacas, ponies, chickens, turkeys, rabbits and guinea pigs on our visit. We will be back to visit soon.
