Nuwara Eliya (Sinhalese: නුවර එළිය [nuwərə ɛlijə]; Tamil: நுவரெலியா) is a city in the hill country of the Central Province, Sri Lanka. Its name means "city on the plain (table land)" or "city of light". The city is the administrative capital of Nuwara Eliya District, with a picturesque landscape and temperate climate. It is at an altitude of 1,868 m (6,128 ft) and is considered to be the most important location for tea production in Sri Lanka. The tour of the Horton Plains and the trek to World’s End was an absolute pleasure as it allowed us a sneak peek to the wonders of the diverse wilderness available in Sri Lanka and to various natural marvels that Sri Lanka has to offer. It is also the home to a large number of endemic birds and wildlife and is indeed a must do when one is visiting the beautiful Nuwaraeliya in Sri Lanka. The splendid tour and the experience of visiting the Horton Plains and the trek to the World’s End was guided by the very experienced and capable Naturalist Hashan attached to the Grand Hotel Nuwaraeliya and, Harshana who indeed drove us safely to and from the Horton Plains. I would definitely recommend them to all thinking of visiting Nuwaraeliya.

You meet the this lake on your way to Ambewala Livestock Farm and the Strawberry Farm. There are boats you Can take a Ride around they Charged us 2000Rs. We were lucky Enough to get onboard the oldes boat Rider on the location with over 28 years of experience, he told us the exciting experience he had in the lake. This lake was the Setting for the 2003 Critically and Commercially successful south Indian Film "Kakkha Kakkha" Directed by Gautham Mennon our boat guy was luckily the, Location coordinator. They had build a Treehouse in the middle of the lake (not available anymore) which has taken around 3months, shooting has lasted 14 Days. Subsequently they had done a Telungu language Remake as well. A boat ride is only worthwhile if you visit on a misty season, I visited Here on a november Day, witch was very much misty we could only see the water. If it's sunny it's like any other lake you see around srilanka nothing special, so this is not a Place to visit in april If you want to see the beauty of the lake I suggest You to watch the Movie. This the a highest freshwater Lake in srilanka, no Motorboats are alloved due to water pollution because this water is supplied to many parts oc the hill country.

One of the nicest waterfalls in the hill country with some breathtaking views. Its located approximately about 30km from Nuwara Eliya town and there's a 1.5km hike to reach to the top. This path is laid through a beautiful area with lots of trees and cold breeze. Recently they have built narrow, but a steady pathway which is easier for visitors to reach to the climax. There's a dedicated parking area at the bottom entrance. This could certainly be said as a must visit place in Nuwara Eliya.

Kolapathana Falls is a hidden beauty situated on the boundary of Mandaram Nuwara, bordered by Piduruthalagala Mountain range. The waterfall is not that much beautiful, but I am giving it 5 stars just because of the breathtaking trail towards the waterfall. It is around 1km hike (not a hard one). Keep in mind that the waterfall is a drinking water source. So you can't bath at the bottom of the falls. You can bath from the stream below a certain point (the collection point of drinking water). But the water is pretty cold. Parking spaces can be found in the village.

It is the second largest botanical garden in Sri Lanka and worth a visit if you are in Nuwara Eliya. Try to take the buggy service as it is easy and joyful.

Actually our favourite walk in Sri Lanka. Not remarkable. Not a huge tourist attraction. Just a delightful stroll amongst the tea plantations watching the tea pickers at work to a nice waterfall at the end. Lovely views over Nuwara Eliya and surrounding towns. Met some happy, smiling locals who wanted to have selfies with us. Finished with a tour of the Pedro Tea factory and a nice cuppa. Superb morning
