About The Radeasa Fortress The Radeasa Fortress cave is located at the spring of the Somesul Cald river, being in an advanced evolution stage. It perfectly shows the way in which caves turn into gorges. The cave has a 15 m tall and 7 m wide oval-shaped entrance, into which the Radeasa stream enters. The single gallery is a 212 m long tunnel, with ample halls and chimneys going all the way.

The cave is across Cris River, really easy to visit without special equipment. The tour it case ~ 1 hour and the guide is really friendly actually is the Salvamont person from the area. Nearby you have a place where to park your car and to enjoy the nature. You can do also canoeing in Cris River.

Three corridors: the Bear, the Emil Racovita and the Candles corridor takes us to the Candles, the spaghettis, the Emil Racovita and the Bones halls. The 45 minute visit begins with the Bears corridor where were founded several bear (Ursus Spelaeus) bones that haven't lived on Earth for over 100 000 years. The cave is visited annually by 200 000 visitors.
We visited the Bear's Cave as part of a group, the tour guide spoke both Romania and English so it was very helpful for us to understand about the history of the place. The tour took around an hour and was definitely worth the 3 hour trip it took us to get there.
