Nuevo León has a lot to offer and this is one of them. Located an hour away from Monterrey's city center, Bioparque Estrella is an interactive Safari themed Zoo; meaning you can feed, touch and play with the animals. The price is totally worth it and not expensive at all. It includes almost everything except one or two rides. What´s best, you can ride a boogie that will take you through their natural reserve full of giraffes, zebras, antelopes, water buffalos, and some other animals. While on the ride, the vehicle will stop so you can feed the animals and take pictures with them. This ride will last about 20 minutes. Then, you have the whole day to enjoy of the petting zoos, a giraffe feeding station, animal rides, shows, food courts, and even a pond with fishes that eat your death skin like in the spa. Moreover, you can also enter small aviaries with budgies and feed them. They will get so close to you that you will feel an aviary explosion of joy. I totally recommend it if yo go to NL.

We were on our way to Grutas Garcias Cave and we saw the signs for this place and had to check it out. It was just my partner and I, no kids in tow on this trip and we enjoyed the place. It is a small petting zoo, but worth the visit, the grounds are lovely and the family that owns it and their staff are personable and clearly care about this place. The animals are friendly, and happy and well cared for as everywhere you go the animals will come up to you, we even had a chicken run up to us, as if she was excited to see us. There are also baby animals everywhere, and one sure sign that the animals are loved and well cared for is when they are reproducing. I had to chuckle a little when another poster mentioned she got stung by a bee, as I did too, out of no where... but i think she is right about staying away from the flowering trees. You can buy little buckets of carrot sticks at the front for 20 pesos or so, and it is fun the feed the animals. Pay the little extra and do the safari ride out towards the mountains to see all of the other animals on this beautiful property. The place is adorable, we walked through it twice, and did the safari ride. We would go back.

I wasn't expecting much from this place, since it does not have much marketing. I was there on a Thursday at 1 pm, so it was almost empty, just a few more visitors there. There is a good and wide selection of animals and fortunately you can see them all. It is a long way to complete the whole park, but it is worth the while. I recommend sun block or an umbrella, it might be too sunny there. I would only ask that they put more signs and directions in the park.
