The Damjanich János Museum can be found in the main square of Szolnok. The building opposite to the town hall was the third storey building in town built by Lajos Obermayer in 1860 and it gave home the famous Magyar Király Hotel (Royal Hotel). The Public Library and Museum Collection of Szolnok Town opened its gate to the public in 1934. The museum found its place in this nice classical building in the Kossuth square in 1952, and from that time the museum bears the name of the legendary hero of the Battle of Szolnok, General János Damjanich. The museum keeps the largest ethnographical, historical and art collections and the entire archaeological collection of the county.

Its a small museum with large selection of historical equipments. In the first section you can find ancient peoples life which they lived in debrecen and hajdu bihar country. You can find artifacts from japanese culture to ottoman empire. It costs 900 forints for students and its definetely worth it.
