This venue has begun as a family idea of preserving the traditional values. Over the time Dionizie and Felicia Olenici managed to collect various traditional items which were part of the traditional household belongings. Nowadays it is a private collection of traditional costumes which displays also a traditional reconstructed house and a small private planetarium catered by Dimitrie Olenici. The ethnography collection “Dionizie and Felicia Olenici” began to be organised from the year 2000. It includes over 500 objects from the surrounding places of Horodnic de Jos village. In the collection there are a few items also from the neighbouring villages: Bădeuți, Brodina, Comanesti, etc. The collection of ethnography is carried out in parallel with the planetarium and the astronomical observatory private arranged by prof. Dimitrie Olenici, who also uses to host an astronomical event during the summer.

In year 1930 it has began the construction of Precista Curch from Piatra-Neamt and in year 1947 this was holy by Moldova's and Suceava's Metropolitan, Irineu Mihalcescu and by P.S. Iustinian, later Patriarch of Romanian Orthodox Church. At holy service also was priest Constantin Matasa, the one that animated the beginning and the end of this Holy Church.

A beautifully well presented small local museum capturing the beauty of painted eggs in Bucovina, and the fascination with eggs world wide.

Small and compact village museum. However, in terms of attention to interior house details, it's a 10/10. Interiors are reconstructed to perfection! All the important village interiors are presented: the potter, the blacksmith, the pub, water mill, the oil mill, church, primary school, weaving house, coats workshop, stables, barns along with traditional village homes with all their traditions such as agriculture tools, baptising, wedding, funeral rituals and many more. Unexpectedly amazing!

I went to this place because my wife and sister-in-law love painted eggs. I expected just another place with cute eggs. I was blown away. This is real art. I was impressed by the thoroughness of the research the artist has done world over to understand this art. The world perspective is then compressed to the bucovinean world of symbols and expressed flawlessly by the skill of the artist. It was worth every minute spent there.
