Our cultivation varieties are all Greek and preferably of the Aegean variety. White varieties include the Samos Muscat and the Asyrtic. The red varieties are the Phokiano, the Augustiatis and the Black Muscat of Samos. The company’s museum is housed in a traditional building built in 1920 and takes up 90sq metres. It was totally renovated in 2005 without changing its original form.

When wine tradition, archaeology and innovation meet, Afianes wine estate was created with love and artistry in 1997 in Raches of Ikaria. Formed from Nikos and Maria and now their children Konstantinos and Eftychia with studies in France, today 22 years later Afianes Wines have established themselves worldwide as unique and special in their kind, while they combine and utilize the ancient wine tradition of Ikaria, with exquisite grape-varieties and innovative wine making methods, that now give Protected Geographical Indication of Ikaria. We have focused on evolving the traditional wine making methods, with minimum to zero intervention alongside, with the principals of Biodynamics and Bioculture .We believe in the environement and the force of the nature. Oinoforos Winery is on the outskirts of the main town of Mytilene and it provides not only a setting,but a wonderful Wine tasting room on the first floor.The actual winery is below the tasting room, where you will come across the state of the art winery,equipped with the latest equipment and a exquisite cellar,where you and your visitors can be informed about the production process of our wine.

The Samos Wine Museum is housed in a magnificent 19th-century stone building, which originally operated as a private winery and later as a warehouse and barrel-making facility. It displays artifacts of the defining history of Samos wine: old photographs and production records, vineyards and depiction of mountain terraces, manual labor, harvesting and manual presses, aging and vinification, cellars, collectible bottles, barrel-making tools, old winemaking machinery as well as a series of awards and distinctions. Its layout, a result of modern museum science, travels the visitor to the traditional vineyard cultivation of Samos. The exhibits tell the tale of the entire historical, social and cultural course of the Samian wine. Traditional winemaking, tools, tanks, laboratory instruments, barrel-making tools, come alive through exhibits that go back over more than a century.
