78 Derngate is the only house in England designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. It is now a multi award-winning visitor attraction offering an unforgettable day out in Northampton. Designed and remodelled by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1916, the house has been meticulously restored and opened to the public. On site: a boutique restaurant, light-filled art galleries, a stylish design shop and elegant spaces that can be hired for meetings, events and functions. 78 Derngate was the architect's final major commission; his visionary patron, Northampton model engineer, W.J Bassett-Lowke. It is the only place in the world where Mackintosh's mature architectural and interior style can be seen in their original setting. As such, the house has drawn many thousands of visitors from around the globe. Now you can follow in their footsteps and see this unique work from one of Britain's most influential and celebrated designers. Please note: To post a review for The Dining Room Restaurant ( a separate business ) you should search for their separate TripAdvisor page. Thankyou!
We decided to visit 78 Derngate during our visit to the area and was not disappointed. The only house in England designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh has a fascinating history which is brought to life on guided tours by knowledgeable and passionate guides. Following the tour we enjoyed coffee and cake in the tea room (afternoon tea is also available - with or without a tour). Delightful visit - highly recommended!

Lamport Hall with a history dating back to Tudor times offers the visitor a myriard of interests to enjoy. The building has been magnificently renovated by the Lamport Hall Preservation Trust. It has now returned to splendour which reflects its many past occupants and their differing histories. Wonderful rooms, paintings, furniture and ceramics enhance the natural beauty of the house. The gardens are magnificently maintained with interesting historical features, including a very unusual rock garden, once home to the world's oldest gnome, who now resides inside the house. A visit to delight all those interested in historic houses. Groups are made most welcome with choices of tours to match interests.

This farm is absolutely amazing the staff are fantastic and very approachable they were on hand at every area to give loads of information on the animals, we were lucky enough to see a sheep give birth to twin lambs which was adorable and two of the staff were there on hand to help the sheep. We were even more lucky to see a goat give birth in the petting area to twin kids that was the highlight for us. I can’t believe there have been some bad reviews for this farm!!! It’s so reasonably priced it’s ridiculous the kids loved all the play areas we spent 5 hours there all’s you need to do is take a picnic if you want food although they do sell snacky bits. The kids didn’t want to leave they had a wonderful day! Yes they got muddy and dirty but so what they are kids and this is a working farm!! There is no way that everywhere would be clean and tidy people are traipsing all over their farm and it’s not like the staff can follow everyone around with a broom!!! If you want a cheap day out with loads of fun things to do then I would recommend this place we loved it!! Thank you rookery farm staff you were amazing today ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
