Private house. The conversion was the subject of two one-hour episodes of TV's Restoration Man. This gets shown all over the world and we have been privileged to welcome people who have seen the programme in their home countries. During 2020 we are having building work done in the grounds which will therefore be a building site, not open to the public. However, if you have come half way round the world to see the place do please come and ring the doorbell on the off chance. Just now though COVID restrictions apply of course.

We recently visited Thirsk after seeing some photos online of Thirsk Yarnbombers 'Happiness' display. I highly recommend you take a drive here and have a look yourself! as the knitting was absolutely amazing! Such bright colours and fun designs - they really do inspire happiness :-) The Yarnbombers have put their display around the town square in the centre of Thirsk, so you can't miss it! We parked across the road, paying £1 at the machine, then a short 1 minute walk to the central area. If driving nearby or if you live locally, definitely make sure you pop by before the end of April to see this fabulous fun display!

Clifford's Tower is all that remains of York Castle. It's set upon a mound which was originally built by William the Conqueror. There is plenty of history to discover. We offer amazing 360 degree views from the top of the Tower over the City of York. Clifford's Tower is open 7 days a week, times vary throughout the year so it's advisable to check the website for details before you visit. There is an entry fee to visit the Tower.
Well worth the climb to get a sense of York and it’s fabulous buildings - interesting to see how it developed.

Located in the Museum Gardens, this is the most intact section of the Roman walls of Old York, which is dated around 300AD.
