This museum is so far my favourite thing in Iceland - and believe me I love Iceland. I made a special trip as I knew I must see this museum (I couldnt visit my first drive past but terrible weather meant I unexpectedly came back this way.) The *wonderful* lady who owns it knew I hadn't managed to visit on my earlier drive past, opened it specially for me. She told me all about the fortune telling styles she and her colleagues used in specially and beautifully designed rooms (get a reading if you get the chance, I couldnt as the storm was fast on my heels and I needed to keep driving, I know I will regret it until I can come back!) I heard the stories of the original seer and the methods used by her and other Icelandic practitioners. A rare female icon of the sagas. The proprietor was funny and informative and I wish I had been able to spend much more time there. It's in a gorgeous nook of Iceland, watch out for key baring ravens and give finding the lost treasure a try :).

Lýtingsstadir offers short and long riding tours, lasting from one hour up to day tours and week long tours. The short tours suit beginners and experiences riders. Week long tours only for experienced riders. Long riding tours depart only during the summer month, short tours all year around. Riding holidays are provided on the farm all year round. Guests can rent one of the cottages for self catering and take part on riding tours. This option suits well for families and couples. The newest attraction is The Old Stable, made from turf. It displays how horses were kept in the old days. Guided tours along with the popular Horses&Heritage presentation can be booked. Lýtingsstadir is authorized by the Icelandic Tourist Board since the year 2000. Lýtingsstadir is one of three farms participating in the concept "The Icelandic Farm Animals".
We did a fantastic horse ride with Antonia for 2 hours. We were a group of no to little experienced riders. Nevertheless we felt very comfortable and secure throughout the ride due to the good guidance we got. It took probably a lot of effort to keep an eye on us, but we also did have a nice chat and were taught some basics of riding. The ride itself was through a wonderful landscape with fields and rivers, which we crossed. Totally recommendable!

An easy hike around the lip of the Viti crater, with its beautiful blue crater lake and steaming geothermal pipelines nearby. Don't be surprised if you suddenly feel like you are in the middle of a spy movie, seeking out the villain's lair! Take note: the trail will likely be muddy - REALLY muddy - so don't wear your good shoes. They will be caked in mud by the end of the hike! This is a good hike for all ages and skill levels, with no steep climbs or difficult terrain to navigate. Just follow the trampled path around the crater and back to the parking lot. Note that there are no services provided at this site.

At Stora-Asgeirsa you can visit the animals, pet them and you can go horseback riding. Stora-Asgeirsa also offers accommodation. The average fee for horse riding tours is 7.900 ISK but entrance to the animal farm zoo is 500-1000 ISK.

Loved all of the traffic lights in Akureyri! Where else do you wish for a red light? We were told they were added in Iceland's economic downturn 2008 -2011 as a small way to cheer the citizens of Alkureyri. They sure made me smile!
