If you’ve never thought much about North Dakota, maybe it’s time you started. Boasting miles and miles of hiking trails, including the Lewis and Clark trail, in addition to multiple museums, golf courses, casinos and amusement parks, North Dakota is bursting with things to do. Situated smack between the Great Lakes and the Pacific Ocean, North Dakota was once called “America’s Most Affordable Vacation Site” by the American Automobile Association. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark are two of North Dakota’s most famous residents. Tracing the courses of the Missouri and Columbia and rivers, the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail stretches through 11 states. Thanks to their explorations, visitors to North Dakota with an interest in history can do some exploring of their own. Bismarck is not only the capital of the state, it’s also home to several Lewis and Clark historical sites including Fort Yates, where the pair stopped to trade with the Mandan Indians. For family fun in Bismarck, don’t miss the Dakota Zoo and Raging Rivers Waterpark. With more golf courses per capita than any other state (11 in Bismarck and Fargo alone), golf lovers are sure to find a course to their liking. Agri-tourism is also a popular activity in North Dakota, which ranks first in the production of spring wheat, durum wheat, sunflowers, barley, honey and other crops.

We are a craft brewery in north Bismarck that handcrafts interesting ales and lagers. We have a taproom in the loft area of the building we share with the restaurant Ale Works. We don't have any TVs, because we want to create an environment for discussion and togetherness. We have a selection of board and card games available to use though! Food is available through the restaurant as well. Cheers!

Downtown Fargo’s newest brewery!
Very happy to have stopped by this brewery while in town. This is probably my favorite of the ones in the immediate Fargo area - at least downtown that is (along with Icewind out in Mapleton, which is worth the drive). Very nice of this brewery to offer flights and short pours to sample many of their brews. They also have awesome popcorn. Yum. Friendly staff - and depending on when you go - great events such as the mini fleamarket.

Started in 2012, Laughing Sun Brewing Company is Bismarck, North Dakota's first brewpub. Laughing Sun produces quality hand crafted American Ales and specialty beers. Laughing Sun's mission with their pub is to have a place where the local community can feel welcome and involved. Their walls feature the work of local artists. Their stage is open to local musicians, poets, writers, and thinkers with original compositions and ideas. It is a special place and we now have a full food menu to offer! You are invited to visit them at 1023 East Front Avenue, Bismarck, ND 58504.
This place has a lot of good beer (personally my favorites were their sours), and their barbeque is amazing. We stopped through quickly and tried a few flights with some burnt ends, and thoroughly enjoyed both. (Definitely get the burnt ends - they were the best I've had.) The dog friendly patio was a big plus, too, especially with the great overhead heater. Would go back!

We decided to see what "Mead" was all about - drinks made of fermented honey and water with other flavorings added. Our host was Bob (with one O) who was the best host ever - very fun and very knowledgeable about the business. We chose our two favorites and bought 2 bottles after each of us enjoying our flights of four. Highly recommended finding this neat little place.

4e Winery is a boutique North Dakota business that crafts high-quality wines from northern prairie ingredients. They pride themselves on getting back to the basic elements of wine making to let the fruit express what it wants to be. They offer a selection of artisan wines made from local grapes, as well as a line of fruit wines that are sure to please the palate. Find them on a century old farmstead, part of the original bonanza farms, just south of Casselton. Their welcoming tasting room, decks and grounds are available for private events or for you to enjoy.
How lovely to sample perfectly crafted wines on a charming shadey long wooden porch, overlooking acres of lush tended bonanza farmland. Have you ever liked all your samples? We had a difficult time narrowing our purchase to just three. Owner is PhD Chemist, college professor, perfecting ideally balanced fruit wines. I'm sure Greg's wife Lisa has a PhD in hospitality. Treat yourself to Dark Currant, Plum, and Rhubarb, and these will be the secret stash to treat your best friends. So drinkable, that cheeses, meats, and crackers are superfluous. Ideal thirst quenching fun wines on a nostalgic mini farm. You HAVE to do this!
