Kiruna Church is a big and beautiful wooden church in the heart of the city. Build between 1909-1912 it's one of the biggest wooden buildings in Sweden. 2001 it was voted the most liked building in Sweden. The altarpiece is work of Prince Eugen Napoleon Nicolaus of Sweden and Norway, Duke of Närke. Definitely worth a visit.

Walked up to the church from the Ice hotel, very pretty covered in snow, warm and colourful inside, postcards to buy with an honesty box.

Historically unique place. On UNESCO's World Heritage List. The medieval church is fantastic and the surrounding church town which consists of more than four hundred small cottages has an exciting history. I recommend that you book a guided tour. Many old traditions are still maintained and really interesting to learn about. You can book tours at the Visitors center just behind the church or at Tourist Information in Kulturens Hus in Luleå City.
