A journey to the past through the Sumail Gap that divides the Western and Eastern Hajars and onto the Old Capital of Oman, Nizwa, famous for its silver souq and a big round fort. After visiting the souq and the fort, you move to Bahla with the huge loam fort (Photo Stop). Bahla is also known as the pottery capital of Oman. Because of its cultural value, Bahla is placed in the UNESCO’s list of heritage monuments. Next visit is Jabrin fort, where you will find one of the most magnificent forts of Oman with its painted ceiling, dungeons, and hidden passages. Return to Muscat.

I had a 11 day private tour with the best guide- Khalifa. He was smart and fun and engaging and very creative. He truly made sure that I had a wonderful tour of Oman. Its hard to spend that much 1:1 time with anyone, but he was easy going, considerate, and truly just the best companion. I can highly recommend Mark Tours if you request him specifically. The problem was with the company. I worked with them for two months on the trip- getting each site and hotel and activity specific for me. I had a definite budget and we agreed on a trip w the costs acceptable. Then after about 5+ weeks post agreement and 6 days before I flew the agent wrote me and said he'd make a mistake and that I needed to pay 40% more. I wrote to the Admin and never heard back. Eventually we were able to stay at the original agreed upon price, but that was bad business. Another problem arose when the company tried to substitute a lessor hotel for one that had already been agreed to and put into the itinerary. That also got resolved, but it left a very bad taste. So if you book with Mark Tours be very careful to get everything tied down and in writing. I was and am very concerned that I never heard from the owner/manager about this last minute price increase (40%!) attempt. That to me speaks poorly of the company. But if you do book - make sure you get Khalifa as your guide!

Nizwa holds significant historical and cultural significance to Oman as the birthplace of Islam in the sultanate as well as its former capital. Nizwa is home to a variety of scenic oases, valleys (Wadis) and beautiful villages. This old capital boasts a 17th Century Round Tower Fort, the magnificent Jabrin Castle, the untouched ruins of its old settlements, and Bahla Fort, part of the UNESCO Worldwide Cultural Heritage.

We booked our four day trips directly via the website (the company was recommended by a respectable travel agent). All went well and expectations were high. Our guide for this half day tour was Salim. His local knowledge was amazing and made the tour. From the outset we were contacted by Abdullah to clarify everything and it just got better from there. Salim turned up exactly on time and he gave us an overview of his counrty on the journey to Muscat. Visited the following. Grand Mosque, Market, Souq, Sultans Palce & Fort. Very happy and would highly recommed. Best and most welcoming part of the middle east I have visited.

It was my first time in Muscat and I wanted to remember this city. To do this, I reviewed many companies that are engaged in excursions and decided to stop at Gidoman . So, I didn't regret my choice and it was the coolest ride of my life. Our guide Ilya, talked to us very interesting information about the city sights. Most of all, I liked the Corniche Road and the old market. We took amazing photos against the background of snow-white beautiful buildings like in the tale of Aladdin. I want to say a huge thank you to the company Gidoman for what you do, I will recommend you to all my friends!

a wonderful opportunity to see a souk of goats and cows..The market is quite frenetic as the sellers can’t always control their cows, and some try to break away, like bulls running through the streets of Pamplona, dragging their owners behind them. A couple of times I regret wearing my red and blue plaid shirt, remembering that bulls in bullfights like to charge at the color red. I jump back away from the sidelines several times as I see cows running helter-skelter in my direction!

Highly recommend Orient Tours and our guide Rachid was excellent, lots of information about the city and sites we were visiting. the Highlight was the Grand Mosque, what an impressive building. Highly recommend. Muscat covers a huge area and attraction very spread out. Far better value than using a taxi to get around, plus learned a lot about the city and its history.
