Tajna is a family winery located in our own vineyards, found in a small town called Tajna. We are focusing on organic wines made from own grapes. The combination of our special wines, peaceful natural atmosphere and a breathtaking design creating an unforgettable experience for every visitor.
The place was absolutely stunning! It had such a magical and personal touch from the owner. People working there were extremely nice. But the best part was the combination of quality wine with beautiful nature surrounding us. I am definitely looking forward to come back with my boyfriend friends and family.
Family tradition with the highest standards We are a small family owned winery, producing 25 000 bottles per year (highly dependent on the weather condition) with very traditional methods trying to eliminate anything beside the grape creating natural wines. We focus on reduction of sulfite level in our wine and having all our wine fermented and aged in barrels. This brings life and complexity to our wines which makes them unique and unforgettable. Vineyards as the fundamental element We focus on our vineyards to ensure the best possible raw material is picked as we feel this is the most important element of our wines as this is fundamental of great wines. We are trying to preserve our vineyards with most natural plant protection and doing green harvest to achieve 1-1,5 kg/vine average yield. With reducing the amount of grapes on one vine the energy, sugar, minerals are concentrated to less grapes giving power them to grow and become tasteful elements of our wines. Bringing natural harmony and joy to our wine 60% of our wines are white, 10% rose and 30% red. We are very fortunate that we have a very good soil with full of minerals and clay which is accompanied with good microclimate. In our cellar we just need to preserve this gift and transform it to joyful quality wine. To preserve this natural gift we avoid the use of chemicals and any artificial yeasts. Fermentation happens spontaneously and in barrels. We age our wines (both white and red) in 225, 300 and 500 liter Hungarian wooden barrels till they reach maturity, which varies from 10- 18 months. Pushing our boundaries Every vintage we are learning and developing our knowledge on natural wines. We have several years of experience with no sulphite added wine, white wine produced with red wine method, keeping the grape on skin for weeks. We are even experimenting with adding the grapes berries to the juice in the barrels, so fermentation happens within the berry and it remains with the juice for the whole aging phase.
