The Ardastra Gardens & Wildlife Conservation Centre is a peaceful retreat spread over 4 acres of lush tropical gardens. Ardastra specializes in bird rescue & rehabilitation, education, preservation of history and conservation of natural resources. Ardastra is home to many native species of plants and animals - including the Bahamas National Bird, the beautiful and exotic Caribbean Flamingo. Reservations are required and can be made on www.ardastra.com. Currently, we're only open to the public on weekends. To maximize enjoyment, we also encourage our guests to schedule their visits around our Signature Showtimes: 11:30am or 2:30pm.
It poured rain the day we visited so there weren't many people. We got some real close up experiences with the animals. Highlights were feeding the lory parrots, the marching flamingos, the flamingos in the wild, and peacocks and parrots that are out in the open around the center.
