September 6, 2021 Jacquiline Darosa

Laissez les bons temps rouler! In New Orleans the good times are perpetually rolling down Bourbon Street, which, thanks to the city’s annual Mardi Gras celebration, has quite a party animal reputation. Once you’ve soaked up the scenery of the historic French Quarter, tour the elegant Garden District and meet the colorful characters of Frenchmen Street. Experience the city's supernatural vibe at the Voodoo Museum or by taking a guided ghost or vampire tour through taverns, alleyways, and cemeteries.

I am an ancient art dealer of over 40 years experience and I am qualified to fully recommend M.S.Rau's store as one of the finest opportunities in America to examine and purchase true museum quality artwork often with incomparable lineages. Bill Rau and his team are eager buyers in the world market seeking to obtain the best possible examples of meaningful artwork for their customers to enjoy and acquire. As a dealer I have found that MS Rau offers opportunities to purchase the best examples of important art, at reasonable prices, which can grow in value over time ( just ask Brad Pitt) and eventually be gratefully sought by prominent museums for their collections. I bought a one of a kind artifact from them for a six figure price and I am delighted with my purchase and, like many museum curators, will continue to monitor their offerings looking to buy more. They go way out of their way to be informed and any purchase is thoroughly overseen for customer satisfaction. But don't be afraid if not buying today, they love to share their treasures. Enjoy.

Jamie Hayes Gallery

Jamie Hayes has had a gallery in the heart of the French Quarter for nearly 20 years and has become synonymous with New Orleans culture. Since Jamie is severely colorblind, pastels are all grey to him, so he uses bright, vivid colors to create all of his whimsical designs. Our wide selection of souvenirs (including mugs, voodoo dolls, tote bags, and many more) and artwork all designed by Jamie Hayes is sure to give anyone a unique remembrance of our amazing city!

Sad to hear from the Gallery that Jamie has died. He was such a part of New Orleans, and I will treasure some of the pieces I've purchased there over the years.

Craig Tracy Gallery

First Gallery In the World for Fine Art Bodypainting! In the heart of The French Quarter in New Orleans. A Must See while visiting the city!

Reviewed By beckyp661 - Kailua-Kona, United States

Craig is an amazing artist and a really nice guy to boot. We stumbled across this gallery and went in to check it out only to realize we actually already knew his artwork. My husband had seen many articles done on him in airbrush action mag and I knew him from watching Skin Wars (he was a judge) and we both have seen his work on the internet. It was a wonderful experience to get to meet him and we actually got to see him paint live in the galleries which he only does twice a year! His brother Philip runs the gallery and was also a lot of fun to hang out and talk with. We ended up purchasing 3 of his amazing pieces of art and cant wait to figure out where we are going to hang them.

Tanner Gallery and Studio

Tanner Gallery and Studio is a Royal Street favorite for both inspired travelers and locals alike. A serene space where enchanting works and ambient sounds combine to create a magical experience. Tanner's paintings have become some of the most sought-after art in the region. His unconventional approach to painting creates a spellbinding illusion of depth that pulls us in and transports us. "If my art makes someone forget their troubles, even for a moment, I feel like I‘ve accomplished my goal. I feel strongly that many of our problems today are a result of us not being in nature anymore. We’re surrounded by concrete, asphalt and plastic, which I believe unknowingly causes us a great deal of stress. It is my hope that my paintings will give the viewer a small sense of that tranquility nature provides us, and remind people how vital trees are to our existence.”

This was my FAVORITE gallery on Dirty Linen Night. For starters, I LOVE any type of art that has a spooky twist. It has nothing to do with Halloween: I'm a year round, spooky decor type of person. The art here is right up my alley: leafless trees silhouetted against a dark, or dimly lit sky, moss hanging off of cypress trees in the shadows. The paintings make you feel as if you're looking out of a window onto a swampy scene at midnight. There was one piece that I particularly loved of shadowy trees against a red background. The forest seemed to call for you to come explore. In a perfect world I would have endless walls on which to hang all of the art that I covet. Until then, I'll have to make due with admiring these lovely works at Tanner Gallery.

Each year we head to New Orleans and each time I go I must stop at the French Market to purchase my annual birthday and anniversary gift along with some Christmas gifts for my Mother-in Law from Hasan Cicek. His jewelry selection is exceptional and always exquisite. I have been purchasing a wide variety of necklaces and earrings from he and his wife for well over the past 10 years. I love the unique design of the jewelry, and Hasan has a vast knowledge of gemstones that truly is incredible! Anatolian jewelry is a place you must visit when you are in NOLA! The variety of gemstones, unique designs and incredible prices are not able to be matched by any other jeweler.
